Most voters (aka consumers) only care about cheap goods. Politicians/elites and their families have been happily making/taking money from China. Why should they care about what Uyghurs and HKers are going through and what might happen many years later? Next models of iPhone and game consoles are probably more important for many people. Communism won't control the world overnight. Even if it happens, those elites are the least affected or may even benefit from it.
