About this listen

They all had a reason. Only one had the nerve.

Twenty years ago, student Daisy Harrington went out for the evening and never came home. Her body was found a week later. The killer was caught. Case closed.

Now, on what would have been her fortieth birthday, her five university housemates are invited to a weekend gathering. None of them want to go. But none of them can refuse—the invitation makes it clear that if they don’t attend, the past they’ve spent two decades hiding will finally come to light.

Because the man convicted of Daisy’s murder was innocent. And one of the five has known this all along. As the weekend unfolds, the truth threatens to finally be revealed…

They all wanted Daisy dead, but one wanted it more. The question is…who? And why?

This was an amazing listen , the characters and story line was great, I highly recommend, kept you guessing until the end.
The narration nailed it perfectly.

Not her best. Format of crime podcast works well but the largely unlikeable characters blend into one another even when voiced by different actors. More importantly, it’s always cringeworthy when characters in the book have to tell you what an amazing twist their plot has just shown - especially when it’s a plot dependent on social prejudices round sexuality and genes for its effects. Ugh. Read Patricia Highsmith instead!

Bland, prejudiced, and cliche ridden

I enjoyed the ending a lot and wasn’t expecting that!
But the characters were all very awful people but maybe that’s the point

In the beginning, I loved this book. I thought it was amazing, totally 5 stars. But then...the same arguments between the characters seemed to go around and around and around. There seemed to be a part of the book without much development.
I did guess who dunnit. To say why would give it away. I did however, think the part right at the end brought the book back up again.

An enjoyable listen.

Sadly I was disappointed with this book. I found it to be very poorly written with a weak plot and a wholly predictable ending. I forecasted the twist and the perpetrator in the first half an hour. The narration was very mixed. The narrator who voiced Georgie was truly awful, grating, loud and overacted. The book is really overworked and padded out so much with repetition and rehashing of the same theories, I skipped through huge chunks of the book ( 4 hours) and could still follow the story. I really wouldn’t recommend it at all, A drawn out, weak novel full of unlikeable characters with a very predictable plot line. Avoid.
