Summary

Celebrated for both his novels and memoirs, Don J. Snyder is also the recipient of a James Michener Fellowship. A story of love and dedication, Walking with Jack chronicles Snyder’s dream to caddie for his son Jack's pro golf tour debut. At nearly 60, Snyder left Maine for Scotland - the birthplace of golf - where he learned the game and earned his spot as a full-time caddie. His journey would finally coincide with Jack’s own struggles in one of the PGA’s toughest qualifying events.

Chasing Your Dream

An interesting account of the relationship between a father and son as they aspire to qualify for the professional golf tour. It's about life sometimes getting in the way, sometimes clarifying the way, but ultimately relationships and resilience. I enjoyed it more because my 16 year old son is a low handicap golfer with his own dream. If golf isn't your thing, the last third of the book, a blow by blow account of competitive rounds of golf, may be a bit tedious. Overall, I connected with a father wanting more than anything that his son could one day reach his goal. It's was a great listen.

The sins of the fathers

Yea, one unique voice telling his unique story . As a sixty something father of an excellent golfer I can relate to much of Don's self-inquiries and his journeys. The book is about Don, its not about walking with Jack, but that's ok. It's still worthwhile, for any father, or any grown-up, or maybe even for the young-gun golfer, for anyone honest enough to admit to themselves that they don't know one tenth about life that we pretend to. I liked the books honesty and humour and passion.
