Rudolf Steiner veröffentlichte die vier Aufsätze Vom Seelenleben 1923 in der Zeitschrift Das Goetheanum; Marie Steiner gab diese nach seinem Tod als kleine Schrift im Kontext der erkenntnisschulischen Texte heraus. Die Schrift ist insofern relativ voraussetzungslos, als sie fast ganz ohne die gängige theosophische oder anthroposophische Terminologie auskommt, welche sich in anderen Schriften Steiners findet. Eine gut lesbare Einführung in das anthroposophische Denken und ein charakteristisches Beispiel für den Stil des späten Steiner.
