About this listen

Summer vacation isn’t all fun and hanging out when you’re a wizard-in-training. For partly reformed warlock Chance Fortunato, it’s even worse. In addition to the constant study and training, he has to prove he’s ready to be a full-fledged apprentice before he starts at the Franklin Academy. Plus, he’s beginning to think someone has it out for him.

If things weren’t bad enough with a snooty proctor monitoring his every move and demons trying to capture him, his father finally makes his first attempt to get his wayward son back under his control by trying to frame his mom. When the old man proves just how far he is willing to go with tragic results, Chance must make a desperate sacrifice-play to guarantee his freedom once and for all.

I felt like I missed something in between book 2 and 3, maybe a short story it bothered me at fist. But they only mention it in the begining an then later on there were caracters that appear I had no idea who were. Sho I got no info before they showed up. That got me frustrated. This book was not as good as book 1 and 2 but I feal like its more of a character build up story and an omen for books to come.

I must have missed something

I’m a bit of a wrinkly! But I still liked this book. It’s aimed a teen market. A young apprentice in high school. But it’s OK. Not too much teenage angst. Good story right balance of magic demons and mages. And it was free … no complaints here.

Loved it!

Loved this book, as it shows the continued growth of the main characters. I'm starting the next book ASAP. Enter into a world that you'll never want to leave.

I'm hooked

Chance and his continued defiance in the face of demons, demonic servants and arrogant wizards is always a pleasure to listen to. Admittedly he can be a little whiny at times and is definitely not the sharpest tool in the shed but as an MC I still like him.

Continues to Impress

Very well done, recommended for both story and performance. World building is one of the greatest pros of the series.

Well Written
