About this listen

Dark, disturbing, heartfelt, and utterly addictive!

From the award-winning author of The Cipher and Buddha Boy, comes Velocities: Stories, Kathe Koja's second electrifying collection of short fiction. Thirteen stories, two never before published, all flying at the speed of strange.

I think this might be my favourite work in all of Koja's writing. Her style is so visceral and poetic but never feels out of character for the people whose perspectives it comes from: losers, artists, the mad-in-progress, all driven by some kind of compulsion. Saxon's versatility and sense for the poetry and rhythm in her prose is a perfect match.

Darkly glowing prose, virtuosically read
