Summary
Eight years ago federal agent Samantha Moon was the perfect wife and mother, your typical soccer mom with the minivan and suburban home. Then the unthinkable happens, an attack that changes her life forever. And forever is a very long time for a vampire.
Now in Vampire Sun, private investigator Samantha Moon looks into the bizarre disappearance of a woman who enters a Starbucks, but never leaves. Her distraught husband, a person of interest, hires Sam when a Corona Police Department detective gets killed and the case grows cold.
In addition, Sam's former guardian angel - now a fallen angel - makes another, startling appearance. Not to mention, Kingsley, her cheating werewolf lawyer ex-boyfriend, is trying to win her back...at all costs. Daughter Tammy's psychic powers are growing exponentially, as are her best friend Allison's, and son Anthony deals with school violence and starts boxing lessons with his own supernatural strength. Just one big, happy, paranormal family.
Most of all, Sam needs to get her hands on the fourth medallion. Fang, her former friend and love interest, has the diamond medallion, which reputedly will restore mortality, yet allow a vampire certain powers. Needless to say, Sam will do almost anything to get it. But the demoness within Sam threatens to kill the last shreds of her humanity. Suddenly, killing for blood doesn't seem that heinous. Sam knows if she doesn't get that diamond medallion soon, it could be the end of her conscience...and the end of all that she loves most.

I love this series but the books are too short!!!
I really wish J. R. Rain would write a full length novel instead of these short novellas. But I have been saying that since I stumbled on to this series. Never the less, I love this series and have read every book in it. Each book shows character and plot development. Samantha Moon is always awesome and I'm glad Fang is back and is friendly with Samantha again. I'm also happy that Samantha and Kingsley have are becoming friendly again. I can't wait for the next book.

A lot going on in this one!
Vampire Sun Vampire for Hire, Book 9 By: J. R. Rain Narrated by: Dina Pearlman This book has Sam dealing with a lot of issues at one time. An ex-boyfriend werewolf, a ex-boyfriend gone vampire, a fallen angel that loves her, her son and her has a bond growning stronger now, and a lead to the last medallion. Also the evil from the medallion in her is trying to get more power and Sam is enjoying the vamp side a little too much. The narration is awesome as usual!

Absolutely beautiful
These books have not disappointed me yet. There are so many undertones of scholarly knowledge. The muerder mystery with vampires and werewolves makes it very interesting to read. You won't be disappointed if you know or understand how we are all connected.

So so
This series is getting a bit repetitive and old. The sound on the audio was not very good towards the end. Dina Pearlman does a very good job with her narration.

Done with this series
Really enjoyed the earlier books and audio, but this one feels like she's just writing to milk the series. Very uninspired, short and lacks the nail-biting drama of the previous...

Too much inner monolog
I know that as women we constantly have an inner monolog of thoughts swirling around in our heads but most of it need not be shared. I liked the idea of the story behind the book but this particular edition had a lot of repetition (repeating the same details over and over again) and too much sharing of the main characters thoughts. I did appreciate some of the flashbacks to prior stories because it's been a while since I read the previous books in this series, however had it been somewhat recent I probably would not have liked so much flashing back. Overall it will not stop me from continuing with the series, but I do hope there is more "meat" in the next one - more about the mystery that is being solved and less about every detail of Sam's inner thoughts.
