It is 1987, and a small Irish community is preparing for the wedding of two of its young inhabitants. They're barely adults, not so long out of school and still part of the same set of friends they've grown up with. Penguin presents the unabridged, downloadable audiobook addition of According to Yes, the hilarious new novel by Dawn French. The Foreign Land of the Very Wealthy - otherwise known as Manhattan's Upper East Side - has its own rigid code of behaviour. It's a code strictly adhered to by the Wilder-Bingham family. Emotional displays - unacceptable. Unruly behaviour - definitely not welcome. Fun - no thanks. This is Glenn Wilder-Bingham's kingdom.

Story
The mystery of Elizabeth Keane's father is one that has never been solved by the people of Buncarragh - not for lack of speculation. Her mother, Patricia, had been assumed a spinster until she began dating a mysterious man from out of town and within months had left Buncarragh and had married. Less than two years later, Patricia was back, with a new baby in her arms but no new husband by her side and unbendingly silent about her recent past. A secret she would take with her to her grave.

Story
Graham Norton's masterful debut is an intelligently crafted story of love, secrets and loss. The remote Irish village of Duneen has known little drama, and yet its inhabitants are troubled. Sergeant PJ Collins hasn't always been this overweight; mother of two Brid Riordan hasn't always been an alcoholic; and elegant Evelyn Ross hasn't always felt that her life was a total waste.

In this, her first ever book, Claudia invites us all into her world. This is a memoir with a difference (owing to its lack of a plot - genuinely, how do people do that?) and Claudia shares her observations on topics such as the importance of melted cheese, why black coats are vital, how it's never okay to have sex with someone who has an opinion on your date outfit, how nurses are our most precious national treasure and why colourful clothing is only for the under 10s (if you're reading this sporting a bright red jumper and you're nine, great! If you're older, sorry).

Summary
Penguin presents the audiobook edition of Us Three written and read by Ruth Jones, co-creator of Gavin & Stacey and author of the smash-hit, number one best-selling debut, Never Greener.
Friends forever is a difficult promise to keep....
Meet Lana, Judith and Catrin. Best friends since primary school when they swore an oath on a Curly Wurly wrapper that they would always be there for each other, come what may.
After the trip of a lifetime, the three girls are closer than ever. But an unexpected turn of events shakes the foundation of their friendship to its core, leaving their future in doubt - there's simply too much to forgive, let alone forget. An innocent childhood promise they once made now seems impossible to keep....
Packed with all the heart and empathy that made Ruth's name as a screenwriter and now author, Us Three is a funny, moving and uplifting novel about life's complications, the power of friendship and how it defines us all. Prepare to meet characters you'll feel you've known all your life.
Critic reviews
"Ruth Jones is excellent on human nature and why we make the mistakes we do. I felt for every character. Unputdownable." (Jojo Moyes, best-selling author of Me Before You)
"I love books about gnarly, messy relationships and this one kept me gripped from the beginning. A great read." (Jane Fallon, best-selling author of Tell Me a Secret)
"Easy to read and full of laughter - and truth." (Daily Mail)

Disappointing after Never Greener
Like some other reviewers I can see I am in a small minority but I was SO looking forward to this book and I was disappointed on all levels. I have heard it said that authors should be dissuaded from reading their own works and I believe that if someone else had done the narration the characters might have come alive more, been easier to differentiate. As it was I couldn't get excited about these lives and I kept waiting for the point of the book ... The plot lacked tension and pace. It was more like a biography of three women who didn't do much and maybe that is the point. I suspect that this is a great book (as someone has said) if it talks about your own history growing up in Wales. Otherwise difficult to engage with at least for me.

Anhygoel! (Amazing)
Diolch Ruth am stori mor hyfryd a chymhellol, yn llawn emosiwn ac eiliadau arbennig am gyfeillgarwch rhyfeddol. Fel merch Gymreig 52 oed, roeddwn ar goll yn yr atgofion hyfryd o dyfu i fyny yng Nghymru'r 80au. Stori eithriadol, lle rydych chi'n cael eich amsugno'n llwyr yn y gorffennol. Thank you Ruth for such a wonderful and compelling story, full of emotion and special moments of remarkable friendship. As a 52 year old Welsh girl, I was completely lost in the wonderful memories of growing up in 80s Wales. a truly exceptional read for all 50 something ladies (and of course all ages) where you can be completely absorbed in the past.

Okay
I loved the author’s previous book, but I found this rather bland. Clearly, my opinion is an outlier, given all of the five star reviews. It is very well written and narrated, but it’s just rather predictable and formulaic.

Another amazing book
I’m in total awe of Ruth’s writing, I can picture every character perfectly in my head, I loved them all, especially Patricia, and I could see bits of myself and friends in all of them. I found I was trying to ration how long was left, I didn’t want it to end. This would be such a good movie, please please please lol!
