Captain Uriel Ventris of the Ultramarines returns home – only to find the Iron Warriors back with a vengeance!

LISTEN TO IT BECAUSE

It's the grand finale to the Ultramarines saga, pitting Uriel Ventris against his nemesis Honsou once again... The action spreads all across Ultramar, complete with links to the Horus Heresy.

THE STORY

War is unending in the life of a Space Marine. After defeating a t’au invasion, Captain Uriel Ventris of the Ultramarines has returned to the Chapter's homeworld of Macragge, but finds little respite. The Ultramarines are thrust back into battle – and this time, the enemy is one of the Chapter's greatest nemeses. The traitorous Iron Warriors, led by renegade Warsmith Honsou, have gathered together a massive and brutal warband. Their target is the realm of Ultramar. Their objective is total annihilation. It is a final showdown between legendary Space Marines, and Uriel Ventris must take on the might of Honsou if he is to save his Chapter's homeworld.

If you've listened or read the other Ventris books it's certainly worth your time. but doesn't really feel like the conclusion of the Ventris saga. As his story is only half the book. its a grand escalation as the final book, featuring a huge list of named Ultramarines. But in doing so loses the tight focus on Ventris and his story and I think by nessesity makes that story far shorter.

Still worthwhile. But doesn't have the personal nature andntight focus on Ventris and his companions I enjoyed in the precious ones.

Excellent voice acting throughout.

The scale is certainly upped to very high stakes.

shame not everyone could have been included but most the ultramarines were there.

not sure about the resolution as it could have been cleaner but a good story.

nice spread of characters

It was great to have a story that was about the Ultramarines chapter as an entirety and seeing the different perspectives from some legendary names in there fighting across Ultramar. Could have had a little more focus on the 4th Company but it did not affect my enjoyment of the novel. A lot of references (important ones) to past mistakes and regrets by some Ultramarines made them feel flawed and not the perfect Astartes they are seen in most cases. Would recommend to anyone, as well the entire series.

Great Ultramarines story.

I was really hoping that honsou or the new born would put me out of my misery and blow many many holes in Cato Sicarius aka the modest! Good book, lots of fun, still struggle with the narrator

I am sicarius!
