About this listen

I should have been on top of the world but I was trapped, suffocated by fame. My life wasn't my own. I belonged to the fans and the media. Too famous to leave my house without attracting a crowd. Fame and anxiety prevented a connection. I was doomed to stay a virgin forever, or so I thought until I fell for the one person forbidden to me: My director.

Four months of working side by side while trying to keep my hands to myself or one of us would lose our job. The temptation was going to kill me.

Excellent story, well written but even though I am not a fan of dual narration, this is bad.

John’s overall narration but particularly his voice for Toby is quiet, sultry and believable. Joel’s is harsh, OTT and just too dramatic to be believable.

My immersion into the characters was lost each time Joel took Toby’s voice. His character was introverted and quiet, as per John and no Joel’s performance.

Recommend you read the book rather than buy the audiobook. Or maybe they will re-record Toby’s chapters using John’s performance. One can only hope.

Also Joel, chill and calm down your performances when narrating - just try it. All gay men are not OTT and twinks.

Buy the book not audiobook. Very well written story but some of the narration lets us down badly.
