Summary

A man's quest to find answers for those who are haunted by the past leads him deeper into the shadows in this electrifying novel from The New York Times best-selling author of Promise Not to Tell

Quinton Zane is back.

Jack Lancaster, consultant to the FBI, has always been drawn to the coldest of cold cases, the kind that law enforcement either considers unsolvable or else has chalked up to accidents or suicides. As a survivor of a fire, he finds himself uniquely compelled by arson cases. His almost preternatural ability to get inside the killer's head has garnered him a reputation in some circles - and complicated his personal life. The more cases Jack solves, the closer he slips into the darkness. His only solace is Winter Meadows, a meditation therapist. After particularly grisly cases, Winter can lead Jack back to peace.

But as long as Quinton Zane is alive, Jack will not be at peace for long. Having solidified his position as the power behind the throne of his biological family's hedge fund, Zane sets out to get rid of Anson Salinas's foster sons, starting with Jack.

Final conclusion

I enjoyed this book because it’s the final conclusion to the search for Quinton Zane. I always enjoy reading Jayne Ann Krentz. The narrator was really good and I look forward to listening to more of Jayne’s books.

GREAT STORY - GREAT CONCLUSION!

I won’t give out spoilers, but if you have been following this series you will not want to miss this book.

And Arizona Snow makes a brief appearance which is always a treat.

The story flows smoothly, and it has a very nice and anticipated ending.

Highly recommended. A very enjoyable listen!

Brilliantly written story!!

I truly enjoyed the story of Winter and Jack in this romantic suspense.
Jack and Winters chemistry flew off the pages. The characters came to life, and so did their romance.
The suspense of probability and their encounters as they hunt for clues, kept me riveted to their story to the very end.
Cobb did a fantastic job on the narration of their story!!
Will there be a follow-up? Hoping!

I have enjoyed this book very much.

I am a long time reader of Jayne Ann Krentz books. I'm rarely disappointed and even when I am disappointed with an initial read. I revisit the story and find that I like the story after all. This one was no different; it was a delight and when I was away from the book I couldn't wait to get back to see how the next page was going to turn out!

Exciting conclusion to the trilogy

Great characters, with a strong woman who participates in the rescue and denoument. Subtle glimpses of humor and nice cameos of places and characters from other Krentz novels. Satisfying conclusion to the trilogy, although I expect some of these characters might reappear in a future story....

Disconnected and cheesy

It feels like someone else wrote this book after the 1st two in the series. The word "vibe" and the characters carry through but the rest felt very disconnected. The useless chatter throughout stretched this book and the pain of listening to it much longer than it needed to go.

The two main characters were weird to begin with, but awkwardly written and it just did not flow well.

The narrator read the book like she was a teenager for the entire book.

Not worth the credit.

Perfect end to a great series!

Krantz's characters are real. There are no prince charming's in her books. Just interesting men and women who happen to be caught up in a bit of drama:) Lots of interesting secondary characters too and a plot that keeps you rivited.....bravo! Jayne :)
