Summary

In the first thaw of spring the body of a young woman surfaces in the River Torne in the far north of Sweden. Rebecka Martinsson is working as a prosecutor in nearby Kiruna, her sleep troubled by visions of a shadowy, accusing figure. Could the body belong to the girl in her dream? Joining forces with Police Inspector Anna-Maria Mella, Martinsson will need all her courage to face a killer who will kill again to keep the past buried under half a century of silent ice and snow. (Translated from the Swedish by Laurie Thompson.)

Critic reviews

"Among the current batch of Nordic writers, the new Larsson is one to be followed with the most minute attention." (Barry Forshaw, Independent)
"Larsson's laid-back style makes her unflinching probing of the icy depths of the human heart all the more chilling." (Jake Kerridge, Telegraph)

Excellent audiobook

I love this author, well crafted interesting story, beautifully narrated. Well worth the concentration needed to follow the Swedish names!

Loved it, didn’t want it to end

Great narrator, loved the dog aspect and the perspective from the dead girl, so believable. And the love story from woman’s perspective… story on All 4 slightly different from book but the main characters so insightful.
