About this listen

Unsinkable is the definitive memoir by film legend and Hollywood icon Debbie Reynolds.

In Unsinkable, the late great actress, comedienne, singer, and dancer Debbie Reynolds shares the highs and lows of her life as an actress during Hollywood’s Golden Age, anecdotes about her lifelong friendship with Elizabeth Taylor, her experiences as the foremost collector of Hollywood memorabilia, and intimate details of her marriages and family life with her children, Carrie and Todd Fisher.

A story of heartbreak, hope, and survival, “America’s Sweetheart” Debbie Reynolds picks up where she left off in her first memoir, Debbie: My Life, and is illustrated with previously unpublished photos from Reynolds’s personal collection.

Debbie Reynolds died on December 28, 2016, at the age of 84, just one day after the death of her daughter, actress and author Carrie Fisher.

This audiobook is wonderful from start to finish but I particularly loved where she Debbie details the movies she made and her experiences of her co-stars!

I absolutely loved this book, Debbie tells it with sarcasm, humour and disappointment. What an amazing life she had. I was shocked at how those men treated her and my heart sank when she didn’t get the museum up and running. I’ve always been a fan of Debbie, she had a lovely singing voice and I loved her in singing in the rain.
Very detailed and well written.

The lovely Debbie Reynolds

Would you consider the audio edition of Unsinkable to be better than the print version?

I read ( listened to) the first autobiography and this continues Debbie's life story concentrating on her love of all things Hollywood. Hearing it told in her voice is more personal than reading it, I believe.

Have you listened to any of Debbie Reynolds’s other performances? How does this one compare?

I enjoyed Debbie reading her own life story, as I did in the audio version of her first autobiography.

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I have a great admiration for Debbie, and her desperate attempts to preserve the golden age of Hollywood through her memorabilia collection. Can't say it made me cry though.

Any additional comments?

This will only appeal to Debbie fans and movie nuts, I am both so I very much enjoyed it.
