Summary

One night, two crimes. A grisly murder. A vicious sex attack.

DS Ewan Striker is the best detective on the force. Unconventional and uncompromising, he is respected and feared in equal amounts. Tag Westland is a rookie. A rich boy who has realised that being a cop is not as glamorous as he first thought. In fact, he has his resignation in his pocket.

These two unlikely crime fighters are thrown together as it becomes apparent that each of their investigations are inextricably linked to something even more evil: a major terrorist attack.

Really well put together listen

I discovered Robert White through his Rick Fuller books. I loved those and the narrator Nicholas Camm who brings a world weary feel to the narration.
This is not a Rick Fuller book. It is still a wonderful listen. The characters are well defined and the plot moves on at a pace. It has an unexpected ending ( at least to me) and has a marvellous cameo that really made my day.
Obviously I enjoyed it and absolutely recommend it. Once again, top marks to Nicholas Camm!

Shame about the Narrator!

I do like a good detective series and was keen to start this one. I was engrossed by 'Dirty' by the same author. However, right from the start the narrator, Nicholas Camm, grated. The un-natural pauses in his reading made me loose the plot - I had to listen too hard to keep on track. The detective was a intriguing character and the story very real. I would have loved to follow the rest of Robert White's audiobooks. However, I won't be listening to anything else by this narrator, so it's all down to the paperback, which unfortunately I don't often get around to.

Unable to finish - narrator awful

Having tried a few times to get it into this book I have finally given up - the narrator is awful and for me makes the book unable to be listened to

Unlistenable

So many good stories spoiled by poor naration. I struggled with this book because the narrator's presentation was the same for every sentence. It was unbearable after a while and I gave up. I will try to return this book.

Will look out for this narrator!

This story is read by possibly the worst narrator going, I couldn’t even get past a couple of chapters due to his annoying drone! I will definitely look out for his name in future only to avoid!!!

Enjoyed

It was a good listen. Have read a Robert White Dirty Tricks and enjoyed. Was a little apprehensive when reading the reviews about the narrator, but he was fine

Good story, great characters, unsettling narration

Good story, great characters, unsettling narration. Not that it is a bad narration, I just think the tone of voice and the intonations are not best suited to the book.

A great listen

A great listen, had me gripped from beginning to end. I love the character D.S. Striker, hoping there's much more to come in this series. Well written and narrated

Worlds are linked!

I enjoyed this story and always enjoy Camm’s narration even if he has a limited number of different voices! It was good to see old characters from the past rise again to help. The twists at the end rounded the story off.

voice cadence is distracting

good story but the narrator's voice cadence is distracting. I read one quarter of the book hoping to get past that issue but finally gave up.
