About this listen

Unfulfilled Potential is a 12-year labor of love and sweat. Originally started as a small project to occupy my time on gardening leave, it has become a millstone around my neck for too long. To bring forward this book for you you to listen is a complete relief, and I can finally start getting on with the rest of my life.

It was intended as a memoir for my children William and Jessica so that they will always remember their Dad and who he is and was, but it has become something more. If I have any talents, I would offer up a photographic memory and a reasonable grasp of the written word. I have tried to combine them both, and this is it. Whether I have finally fulfilled any potential will be for you to judge.

It is not a three-course meal of a book to be listened to in one sitting. More like a Rich Tea biscuit to be dunked occasionally, dipped in and dipped out. Just don’t leave it in the tea for too long!

A rollicking romp through the author’s life. From humble beginnings he rises to the dizzying heights of corporate finance at the expense of his sanity. His acerbic wit holds up a mirror to the superficial, self obsessed and censorious society that the we have become. Thought provoking, moving and humorous and not a book for the faint hearted.
