About this listen

On the face of it, women's sport is on the rise, garnering more attention and grassroots involvement than ever before. However, the truth is that in many respects progress is stalling, or even falling back.

Sharron Davies is no stranger to battling the routine sexism the sporting world. She missed out on Olympic Gold because of blatant doping among East German athletes in the 1980s, and has never received justice. Now, biological males are being allowed to compete directly against women under the guise of trans 'self-ID', a development that could destroy the integrity of female sport. This callous indifference towards women in sport, argue Sharron and journalist Craig Lord, is merely the latest stage in a decades-long history of sexism on the part of sport's higher-ups.

A strong fightback is required to root out the lingering misogyny that plagues sporting governance, media coverage and popular perceptions. This book provides the facts, science and arguments that will help women in sport get the justice they deserve.

I’ve always stood on the sidelines when it comes to sport, no opinion one way or the other BUT what is happening in women’s sports is WRONG
I am mind blown as to how on earth did society become accepting of men identifying as female for the purpose of winning in sports become OK
It is not fair and should definitely not be allowed
Trans women can wear dresses all they like but women’s spaces and sports must be made off limits
Thank you Sharron for highlighting this problem which will affect our daughters and granddaughters we need to make a stand now as it’s an insidious contamination of what it means to be a woman

Excellent Explanation of the discrimination against biological women

A really well researched and informative book on the injustice being dealt to women by the IOC and other sporting organisations. Based on current science and data, nothing makey uppey like some of the pseudo facts are that inform some sports governing bodies. Well narrated and highly listenable .

Highly engaging and informative

Very well written and beautifully read, in this book Sharon Davies puts forward a very strong case for women to be able to have their own spaces and sports categories. This is not a book that is anti-transgender but about balance, fairness and safety in women’s’ sport and spaces. It is backed up with the science that proves biological fact, versus the desire for biological men being able to compete in women’s sporting events. It is disturbing to think, that in the 21st century, we are having to re-visit the issue of women’s rights, in the face of the banner headline of inclusiveness.

A reasoned argument for common sense.

I thoroughly recommend this book. It is well researched and eye opening, if you know nothing about the battle for women’s sport this is a good place to start.

Amazing book
