しかし華やかに見えるその半生は、挫折と試練の連続でした。
父親の元忠は大阪ミナミで有線放送の会社を興し、裸一貫、全国を制覇した立志伝中の人物です。ところが無断で電柱に有線のケーブルを引いたり、ライバル会社のケーブルを切ったりという悪どいやり方は、息子である康秀に巨大な負債となってのしかかります。
やっとのことで有線放送の会社をブロードバンド事業へと導いた宇野の手腕。しかしこれからという時に、リーマンショックによって経営は暗転し、融資を受けた銀行団との壮絶なバトルが始まるのでした。
