About this listen

Artist Brody Trent enjoys a simple life living and working in NoDa, an artsy district of Charlotte. He wakes one morning to find himself charged with the brutal assault on a young woman who now lies comatose, unable to testify to his innocence. A fluke accident allows him to escape custody. Now on the run, he travels to the Lowcountry of South Carolina to find Doctor Emily Parker, the one person who can lead him to the real assailant. Standing in her way is the wealthy and powerful Harrington family, who will do anything, including committing murder, to keep her from the truth.

This is the first time I have read/listened to this author but it won't be last as I really enjoyed the story. I really enjoyed the story line and liked the characters. I had worked out who the killer was but wasn't sure if a few of the other characters could be trusted. It kept me hooked from start to finish
Brody is woken up by the police banging on his door, the girl who he saw home has been found beaten in her apartment and as he was the last person seen with her he is the prime suspect. With no way to prove she was well when he left he is put on house arrest, leaving the police and his lawyer to find the real killer. When a freak act of nature sees him free he goes on the run back to the injured girls home town looking for her friend in the hopes that she might be able to provide the missing clue that will prove him innocent. Then the worse happens and the FBI gets involved launching a large man hunt but will Brody be able to convince them they have the wrong man before the killer starts to get rid of all the thorns in his side.
I liked the narrator as she was easy to listen to and made it easy to know which character was talking.
All in all a must listen to book.
