Summary

The world Megan James thought she knew has been slowly unraveling. Her father disappeared and was presumed dead, her mother's sanity started to slip away, and the safe world she'd always thought she was living in slowly began to reveal its very dark and twisted depths. With the discovery that both her father and long-lost uncle, Angus James, were alive, Meg thought she'd finally learned all the secrets New Atlanta and the CDC had to offer, but she soon discovers the surprises have barely begun.

With Jackson Star's threatening presence looming over them, Meg and her family are forced to flee the walls of New Atlanta, leaving both Axl and Donaghy, the man Meg has come to care so much about, in the CDC's clutches. Knowing that rescuing them will be no easy task, the group turns to a very unlikely source, and Meg soon discovers her long-lost uncle has more than a few shocking secrets to share.

After two decades of living behind walls, it looks like the end of the zombies could be in sight, assuming they can break into the most fortified building left in the world. Luckily, Angus James knows exactly what to do to make it happen.

But Angus isn't the only one with a few tricks up his sleeves. When Jackson Star suddenly decides to release Donaghy, it isn't out of the kindness of his heart.

With the clock ticking more than ever, Meg finds herself in a race against time. Success means not only saving her family, but the whole world as well, while failure could very well mean a life of living as Jackson Star's slave.

Lovely

Meg and her family have managed to flee from the controlling Stars. They formulate a plan to go back and rescue those left. Everybody is shocked when Stark decides to release Donaghy, but they quickly learn the twisted reason why he did. I never thought I would get so emotionally invested in an apocalyptic novel. I mean I enjoy them. I enjoy the outside the box universes. However, this is the first one that I have ever been fully emotionally invested in. I loved the characters. I loved the story. I loved the way the author tied this all together. The only thing I didn't like about the book is a certain part they left open. I won't divulge it because I don't want to spoil the book. But it leads a lot of questions. Is this lose thread open for interpretation? Is it the beginning of another series? Will we have to find out which is which? How long will it be until we do? I fully recommend this series/trilogy. It was very amazing. The author turned a zombie novel into something very unique and refreshing. I never really thought I'd enjoy a zombie novel, but here I am gushing over this one! I can't wait to read more by this author.

Twisted Fate

I like this series.I really do.I do have issues with the long winded repetition that Meg constantly has about,well,everything.5 hours could have been cut out by just saying it once.I also like the ladies narration done by Heather Firth. Her mens voices still make me cringe at times. I took a few breaks during this book because it was such a downer for the most part. The storyline is solid as are the characters.I am looking forward to #4 being light and sunny!lol I was given this book by the narrator, author or publisher free for an honest review.

Falling Stars!

I received this book via a promo code and this is my voluntary review.

20 years after heading to the CDC to find a cure for the initial outbreak, Angus James is now reunited with his family and Team James are determined to fight back against team Star and use the Zombie eliminating fail-safe that Jane told Angus about before she died. That was bittersweet after having followed their story in Twisted Memories and you find yourself as conflicted about her character as Angus does with his complicated grief for her, he's learning more about her role in the losses suffered by his family, even though some of her initial decisions were what kept Axl safe for all those years, and her loss and Glitters liberation was exactly the catalyst that led to Margo's fate.

Mostly flowing between Meg and Donaghy's POV, you follow the team as they gain allies, learn harsh truths and lose friends. I'm not sure if this is the final book in this series... the ending surely does leave you with the impression that a newer possibly worse evil has arisen in the place of Star's collapsed dynasty.

Loved this series and although I do hope Team James finally get some peace, because losing characters like Joshua and seeing the devastated Jim through the Oklahoma Wastelands stories is harder now we are following a younger generation who have no memories of the world before the outbreak, I like to think those guys finally got their peace and rest but the apocalypse is exhausting.

Now I'm off to listen to the Broken World Stories novella audiobook. This universe is addictive.

Good conclusion

It started were the first one finished. She could have shorten it a bit, if she left out the repeated feelings or thoughts but all in all it was a good story. I liked the idea with the town from the walking dead, that was funny. The characters were very good described and you had a feeling you are in the middle of. It was pretty gripping, of course you must like this zombie stories.

And it all comes together!!

This series has had me feeling “what the hell” at the end of every book! It now all falls into place and that was so satisfying!! Kate you are an evil genius!! At the end of the last book I was somewhere between I hate this author and I’m going to kill this author! Lol I’m now totally in love with this author. Heather you have done a great job throughout.

A Roller Coaster Grand Finale!!

I loved this book as well as the entire series. It has so many awesome components to it that kept my attention all the way through this longer listen. This book picks up right where the last leaves off and this author keeps us on a suspenseful semi-emotional roller coaster ride. Great unique zombie story with a couple very intimate scenes. Well written strong characters that have to face some tough and disheartening challenges in an effort to overcome the CDC and the Stars.

Throughout this entire series, this narrator has just done a tremendous job! I've listened to her work before and continue to be impressed by the variety of voices she can do and maintain for expanded periods of time.

I received a review copy at my request and have voluntarily left this unbiased review.

A Fitting Conclusion!

I really enjoyed this book, its action packed, dramatic and an emotional rollercoaster to the very end! There were some very intense scenes as the James family finally take on the CDC. I was hooked from the first book, and had to keep going to find out how it all ended, I'm just disappointed I finished them so quickly!
