Summary

From New York Times best-selling author Claire Contreras comes a new mysterious, sexy, stand-alone secret society novel...

When someone tells you who you are, do you believe them?

The first question the cops asked me was if anything out of the ordinary happened to me lately.

When I woke up this morning in the room of a mental institution I couldn’t remember a thing - not my name nor how I got there. Not how I left or how I ended up in that interrogation room.

The only thing I knew came from the contents inside my bag. A wallet, a student ID, a key that opened an unknown door, and two notebooks.

They tell me my name. It matches my IDs.

They tell me my story. I shut my eyes and try to piece it together, but can’t.

They tell me why they picked me up in the first place. They thought I was my sister. My brain stays stuck there. I try to rewind and fast-forward, as if my memories were on a videotape, but it’s no use. I can’t recall having a sister.

They put me back in the car and drop me off in front of a mansion they call The Manor and I discover what the mysterious key in my backpack opens the front door, and just as quickly wish I’d never unlocked it at all.

This is a 100% stand-alone in the world as Half Truths.

Confusing

I did not like the story at all I would have never finished the book if it had not been for the narration by Andy and Zachary my two favorite narrators and the only reason that I finished the book I would not recommend the book unless you like confusing understandable books

Interesting Story!

Very unique story about college secret society's, really enjoyed the story and the twists but preferred the first book in the series more than this book, great choice in narrators And Arndt never disappoints!

Good-ish but too many unfulfilling plot elements

So this book follows Eva and Adam(Nolan’s twin brother from the 1st book) and the secret society in this book is the Swords(the red cloaks).

The book was interesting enough but it did feel like it had way too many moving parts. It felt like the author was trying to throw anything and everything at the wall and based on her note at the end that’s exactly what she did. Without going into spoilers, I will just say this book has a lot of different plot elements and I didn’t feel like it truly explored any of them like it should have.

I did like both characters, Adam more than Eva. I also appreciated that we got more first person time with the male character in this book as compared to the first book. However, even so, I didn’t feel like we really got to know Adam and Eva that well and I would have definitely liked more moments between them.

This book also has a religious element to it. The main female character is very religious and the secret society The Swords is also kind of a religious cult. I’m not religious and so overly religious elements in books are not my thing(especially when they aren’t up front about them) but I didn’t feel like this one was too too in your face. Just at times I found myself eye-rolling.

Overall, I don’t think it’s as good as the first. Even so, it was a good enough listen and I’m still interested in reading the next book which the author said is Nolan’s.

Not what I was expecting 🤬

Hated this book with a passion, the only reason I finished it was Andi / Zachary made it bearable.

Not as good as the first

Easy and entertaining read but not much attention to characters and the love interest doesn’t make sense.

So riveting! I can't get enough of this series!

You know those books that stick with you long after you've read them? This is one of those books. This is one of those series. With each new book, the tales of these secret societies get more whacked and more riveting. I find myself wishing the story wasn't over yet and aching for the next book to come immediately.

I loved, loved, loved Adam. His strength, his devotion, his patience... all of that made him even sexier than his looks. I actually found myself not caring or thinking about his looks because his soul gripped me so tightly.

Poor Eva. That's all I can really say. Like Adam, she was so strong and her devotion to family she never knew was endearing. I actually felt her anguish, frustration, and madness as I read her story. A definite statement for the writing ability of this author.

I both listened to the audiobook and read the ebook for the entire story. The narrators did an amazing job, so much so that I found myself listening more than reading which isn't like me. I love reading with my eyes. Therefore, I hope Ms. Contreras continues to use them for her audiobooks. I'll definitely continue listening to her audiobooks if that's the case.

I highly recommend this book. This. Whole. Series! Some of this author's best writing.
