Summary

Penguin presents the audiobook edition of Trust Me by Lesley Pearse, read by Sally Scott.

She lost her parents and then was sent far, far away....

When their father tragically kills their mother, Dulcie and her sister are sent to an orphanage. Told that a 'better life' awaits them in another country, they are shipped off to Australia.

But the promises made to the sisters turn out to be lies.

And it seems to Dulcie that everyone who ever said 'trust me' somehow betrayed that trust. So when she meets Ross, another orphanage survivor, and finds he is a kindred spirit, hope swells in her heart.

But can she ever get over the past betrayals and learn to trust again? And can she fight not only for herself but also for her sister?

One of the best books I’ve ever read.

Do not pass this one by......
I love everything I’ve read by the author but this one is by far the best so far.
I listened to Trust Me on audible and could not stop listening, I had it on wireless buds all over the house and out walking the dogs!
Based on true events of British and Australian children being abused in Catholic run orphanages, this book is beautifully written and literally held my attention throughout. Highly recommended, very thought provoking and sad but excellent.

Expertly portrayed the victims of orphanages

This was an extremely interesting and distressing story to read. I had no idea of the severity experienced by these children. Although fiction based on true facts Lesley Pearse has brought their plight to many.

A must read for any caring person including the epilogue and post word.

Harrowing

This book is a necessary read. Although it is a story shown through fictional characters it must never be forgotten that it has a factual basis.

Wow! What a story.....

I love the detail in this authors books, she really gives you a character that you want to route for, this story was captivating from the word go and one that didn’t leave me even when I had to stop listening, I would highly recommend even though you will find it disturbing and heartbreaking in places, it’s well worth enduring that to see it through

Engrossing

Lesley Pearse never fails, and combined with an excellent Narrator the story comes to life to reveal knowledge of a bitter and harsh truthfulness about the Orphans sent to Australia. Gripping
