Summary

Book three in a masterful what-if series in which global catastrophe puts a family’s very survival at risk - and both reveals the darkness in human hearts and lights the way to restoration.

Now eight months into a global blackout, the residents of Oak Hollow are trying to cope with the deep winter nights and a gnawing hunger from a food shortage. The struggle to survive can bring out the worst in anyone.

A teenage friend of the Brannings has been found shot while hunting, and his slain deer is gone. Suspicions immediately fall on Mark Green, the son of a convicted murderer. Before he can prove his innocence, vigilantes force the sheriff to arrest him.

Deni Branning is growing closer to Mark, and she sees him as a hero, not a traitor. She and her family set out to find the person who really pulled the trigger. But clearing Mark’s reputation is only part of the battle. Protecting him from the neighbors who ostracized him is just as difficult.

New York Times best-selling suspense author Terri Blackstock weaves a masterful what-if novel in which global catastrophe reveals the darkness in human hearts - and lights the way to restoration for a self-centered world.

World is getting used to the blackout

As this is the 3rd book in a series by Terri Blackstock, the first book starting off a world-wide power blackout which caused all modern electronic equipment to stop working in an instant, planes to fall out of the sky, cars to stop dead in their tracks (except really old cars), people on the planet Earth are getting used to the outage and are starting to figure out how to get by. The Branning family, the main characters in the series, come closer to their faith and continue to live and learn lessons in this new installment as they wait to see what is planned for them next. All in all, I found this an enjoyable "what if" series which really made me think about what I would do if I lost all of my electronic equipment all of a sudden. How would I cook, keep cool, get around, earn a living, get food? Yikes!

great book in a great series

I found myself, at times, getting too into the storyline. I guess that's a compliment to a writer.

May we learn from them....

Wow. I have asked myself many times could I survive or would I crumble. Once again Terri Blackstock entertains us with a very well written story at the same time begs us to examine ourselves. I have loved this series.
