The very best book I have listened to this year .

fantastic book ,could almost be fiction in fact I had to use Google just to make sure ,the resources and research of Evelyn Mitchell were a massive piece of thisbtrue crime puzzle, without her it would not have been at all possible, I think a follow-up book on her would be well received, I really enjoyed and could not put down listened to all throughout the night ,amazing editing, great narration, easily the best true crime book I have ever listened to definitely the most originally laid format buy this book it's worth 2 credits you won't be disappointed.

loved it!

I absolutely loved this book from beginning to end.
The performance of the various characters throughout was brilliant. Initially I was worried with so many characters I wouldn't know who was talking, but you quickly get to know each one as if you've met them yourself.
The story is so intriguing, full of surprises, and unexpected twists and turns from start to finish.
I just love the way this story is written, I wish I could forget it all and listen as if it were the first time again and again!

Hooked!

Absolutely amazing voice actors who truely brought the story to life. The story itself was also very engaging. Definitely did not see that ending coming, and it's always a good sign when I am genuinely gobsmacked by an ending!

Interesting idea

The idea of this type of novel really intrigued me, as it seemed very similar to the long form true crime stories that have been popular in the last decade. I guess that's what the author intended based on the title. A fictionalised version of this, based in a geographical location with which I'm familiar, was really appealing.

I think an audiobook was an excellent medium for the story, particularly one with multiple actors performing the different characters.

I have not read any other books by the author, but this would encourage me to do so. It wasn't the most 'literary' of books, however I felt it was very enjoyable and I burned through it in a few days. Zoe's character was a mystery and the layers of who she was were peeled away slowly throughout the book. This is a literary device that I enjoy, as it keeps the momentum up and maintains my interest.

I was a bit confused by the motives of something Kim did that comes to light very late on in the story, I wasn't sure how true to her character that felt. Also at times Andrew Flowers character felt a bit slippery, like I couldn't quite decide who he was. I felt it was an interesting concept. I enjoyed the bridge between fiction and reality by inserting the author into the story and hadn't made himself too likeable either.
