Summary
Mason "Mace" Perry was a maverick cop on the D.C. police force, until she was kidnapped and framed for a crime. She lost everything - her career, her liberty - and spent two years in prison. Now back on the outside, Mace is trying to rebuild her life and track down the people who set her up. But even with her police-chief sister at her side, she has to work in the shadows: there's a vindictive US attorney on her tail, and she's just looking for a reason to send her back behind bars.
Roy Kingman is a young lawyer, still getting used to his high-paid job at a law firm in Washington. When Roy discovers the dead body of a female partner at the firm, his fate becomes entangled with Mace's, as the two team up to investigate. But as their enquiries gather pace, Roy and Mace soon find themselves in unexpected territory; drawn into both the private and public world of the nation's capital, as dark secrets begin to emerge. For what began as a fairly routine homicide investigation will quickly turn into something far more complex. And possibly lethal.

Good Listen
I like David Baldacci. He writes a good yarn and it was well read. You wanted to carry on listening. At first I found the intermittant sound effect a bit odd. I listened to it whilst gardening and I thought the wheelbarrow needed oiling only to find out it was a highspeed motorbike chase, it scared the cat and me.
I have read some of my other reviews and I can be a bit dismissive, but yes I would definately have another David Baldacci

What's with the sound effects and music?
Would you try another book written by David Baldacci or narrated by Ron McLarty?
I'd definitely get another book by the author but I'd rather it was narrated by someone else. It was difficult to know which character was speaking a lot of the time, everyone sounded the same, but he was trying to do voices.
Would you be willing to try another one of Ron McLarty’s performances?
I pick books by the author so I wouldn't look for his narration but I don't think it would stop me getting a book.
Was True Blue worth the listening time?
Yes, I really enjoyed the story. As with other Baldacci books I've read it was a bit drawn out and could have been cut down a bit though.
Any additional comments?
At the end of many (but not all) chapters, particularly at climactic moments there was music and/or sound effects. Why? It was totally unnecessary and distracting. I'm sure everyone knows what gunfire sounds like. Hope other books don't have this nonsense.

Thoroughly good stuff!
The concept of a woman pushing herself so hard, almost beyond credibility, to find the person she knows she is, and to regain her professional standing, is amazing, and in this book, entirely convincing.

Great book for Baldacci lovers
Another great book by David Baldacci.
After listening to all the David Baldacci books in the Camel Club series, this book did not disappoint. As usual with his books, I was taking the long cuts rather than the short cuts home in the car, so I could listen to more of the book!
A worthwhile addition to your library!

A good story with some very exciting bits, gory at times. However, I found the ending rather unsatisfactory in that it was over too quickly after the tremendous buildup. But overall an enjoyable book.

bleak; almost didn't finish
Not a recommended reading. I totally agree with previous reader's (Steven's) review. The story has so many improbable twists, lucky turns, that it is laughable. The jokes aren't funny and, for some reason, I didn't like the narrator. He made everything sound oh-so dramatic. The female character comes across as ridiculously lucky, naive and too 'macho'.
I liked Baldacci but this one is a bad example of his work.

Disappointing
I have read and listened to just about everything David Baldacci has written. Found this book very disappointing - very hard to believe that Baldacci wrote this. The characters are trite, and largely unbelievable. The number of impossibly lucky "events" beggar belief. The "smart alec" dialogue from the hero is off putting and unreal. There is very little positive to say about this effort from Baldacci. It doesn't measure up to his other fiction.
