About this listen

In Trans Like Me, CN Lester takes listeners on a measured, thoughtful, intelligent yet approachable tour through the most important and high-profile narratives around the trans community, turning them inside out and examining where we really are in terms of progress.

From the impact of the media's wording in covering trans people and issues to the way parenting gender-variant children is portrayed, Lester brings their charged personal narrative to every topic and expertly lays out the work left to be done. Trans Like Me explores the ways that we are all defined by ideas of gender - whether we live as he, she, or they - and how we can strive for authenticity in a world that forces limiting labels.

As an activist myself I have read met worked with and been immersed in the T community for years and CN Lester a new voice to me has hit the nail(s) right on.
Well researched, well presented and surprisingly I didn’t disagree with any issue they brought up, except for that; “they, their” and not because of the use, I just find it one more thing to add to soup. Understand why it’s use I just prefer he/she in it’s broader since.

Would like to read a current version now. Having moved to England with my long time British wife and knowing other activist here I’m still seeing differences from the States. Like what was said about being united within larger LGB community although I’ve often thought differently, is one I now appreciate.

Well done!

This book has surpassed my expectations - it's nuanced, informative, encouraging, and deeply personal. At times it feels like a warm hug, a peek into a better future, or a battle cry. Will definitely re-listen and recommend to as many people as I can.

Fantastic book

Maybe I was expecting something else from this audiobook, but it ended up being too much about the campaigning of trans activists and the TERF wars than I felt was necessary. I learned a lot, but I felt like there was a lot about the trans experience (“Trans Like Me”) that was missed at that expense.
Great, as always, to have the author narrate - particularly with a personal story like this.

Good, but perhaps not great
