About this listen

SOMEONE'S SET HIM UP

SOMEONE'S GOING TO DIE

When Victor is arrested for a murder that, for once, he didn't commit, escape must surely be inevitable for a hitman of his ferocity.

Yet someone wants Victor put away, and he finds himself behind bars, incarcerated by police who have no idea of the monster they are dealing with and have, apparently, tamed.

Quickly, however, his fellow prisoners realise that he's not trapped in there with them: they are in a cage, with the most dangerous of enemies. And Victor has a traitor to find.

I have enjoyed all the books in this series thus far, and this one is no exception. If anything, Victor's approach to humanity is once again skilfully presented with his logic and analysis difficult to argue against. You are in no doubt that he is 'different' to you, not just because of what he does and how he does it (lol) but in how he thinks about things and how his analytical mind is able to understand the emotional responses of others, despite him not having the same responses himself. What I may have wished to be the outcome of this story may, or may not have come true. I was the observer, maybe the interloper wishing to layer my emotions onto the character. As a previous reviewer said, the image at the end is enduring and captivating. This has been Victor's story, not mine. I'd recommend these books to anyone (except the squeamish). They are beautifully paced, descriptive and analytical, and quite fascinating for being so. A great end to a difficult year.

Exciting, intriguing and engrossing.

I’ve read all the books in the series, and for some reason found the plot in this one the least enjoyable… Also prefer the original narrator

Not the most enjoyable “Victor” book
