Such a fitting title for a book that will become your total obsession, a book that once you start you can not stop because you need to know what happens next. Ivy Wild cleverly created a dark psychological romance like no other, and one that will tug at your heartstrings for both characters. Aksel “Axe” Michelson and Zoey Campbell were best friends growing up, sharing each other’s secrets, including how terrible Axe’s abusive father treated him. Zoey, trying to fit in with the “in” crowd at school, blew Axe off, and her betrayal nearly broke him, then adding insult to injury was his father. He ran away from his life and, thanks to the kindness of a stranger, he started a new one, one he excelled in, though it was a shady life with shady people, to say the least. The one thing he lived for was his vengeance, vengeance for Zoey wronging him and breaking him. He takes stalking to a whole new level, keeping tabs on her and steering her career from afar, first as a model and then as an actress. His goal was to build her up and then take it all away, not before getting up close and personal with her again. Zoey never let her success go to her head, and going from modeling to acting has its challenges, but it fell into place for her, landing a role she wanted, and her new acting gig included an apartment to live in. And then she sees him, the one who disappeared from her life and her one regret. Axe was no longer the boy she knew, and is now a man of confidence, wealth and mystery. It was interesting to learn Axe’s backstory, where he landed after the horrific day he left home fifteen years earlier and what made him into the man he was today, a man of power, a vicious man. He soon learns nothing is as he thought with Zoey and rethinks his plan, but too many things were already in motion. Adding more layers to the story is what he does for a living and who he works for, power plays and double-crossing going on there too. There is never a dull moment in this book, a cleverly plotted story that has the perfect balance of drama, angst, thrilling suspense, heartfelt emotions and steamy romance. Ivy Wild, thank you for another fantastic story and wild ride.

🎧📚🎧And for the amazing audiobook listen performed by two superbly talented voice artists, Joe Arden and Michelle Sparks, and the ideal cast to bring these characters to life. Sparks was a natural in Zoey’s role, grasping every aspect of her personality, from her insecurities to her strength and determination, nailing it all. Arden was just as amazing as Axe, showcasing all sides of his personality and demeanor perfectly, from a controlled and in charge alpha to a ruthless killer, and all in between. They set the right tone for the story, conveyed all the characters’ emotions in their performance, making you feel them all. It is a pleasure to listen to Arden and Sparks’ performance, and their engaging storytelling keeps you hooked to the story.

Oh Ivy Wild lets the dark side out for this one! I was all in from the very first chapter and loved every minute of this one. Axe and Zoey were best friends until high school. That chapter of Zoey's life had her moving into different crowd and humiliating Axe was a sacrifice. Axe didn't take it well, literally snapping and changing his life. Now years later, he is back in her life, gorgeous, rich and that safe space for Zoey. Little does she know just how integral to her success in life he was just to take out his revenge. But things don't always follow the path you think they will and this couple is in for a wild ride. Wild sows a story of obsession, revenge and passion with not only Hollywood, but the mafia in the background. It's dark and delicious, full of all the feels that made me both cringe and love. It's a fabulous listen.

Michelle Sparks is Zoey and she plays her part perfectly. As a teen, she is that popular girl and now as an adult, she is insecure, at times confused and trying to understand her heart. Axe is a complex character with layers and Joe Arden pulls out the darkness as he goes from fleeing as a teen to the man and he's deviously manipulative. Loved this narration, it's fantastic.
