Benedict Cumberbatch is excellent as T S Eliot in this radio production of Tom and Viv, the unusual marriage of T S and his wife Vivian, who died by suicide in the private mental hospital her brother condemned her to. Poor Vivian suffered from an unusual medical condition that affected her all her life of having her monthly cycle almost everyday (which she was very ashamed) and which affected her mental health causing her to behave irrationally and obsessive in social conditions. TS had a lot to endure so the marriage failed. This production is based on the book that was made into the film of the same title ‘Tom & Viv’ a sensitive portrayal of their relationship. After Vivian’s brother put her in the private mental hospital TS never visited his wife nor had anymore contact with her. A very sad but entertaining saga.

EXCELLENT INTERPRETATION OF THE BOOK AND THE FILM
