I loved reading his autobiography and then his two novels. His voice reminds me of the person who reads his novels. Down to earth and matter of fact. Tho his latest novel goes in for more introspection than his first one. But that’s necessary development of the character. When you hear him speak about himself and read his autobiography you can see his characters forming that you subsequently find in his novels. Given his own experience they give his books realism and authenticity. To return to his own life story, we should be very grateful there are people like him willing to do the work they do and do it so well.
