About this listen

Jack Ryan returns in a blockbuster new novel of action, thrills and intrigue in the world created by master storytelling Tom Clancy.

An international incident may fracture the Ryan family in the latest entry in this #1 New York Times bestselling series.

Even in a family of strong individualists like the Ryans, Kyle has stood out as a lone wolf. For years he's gone his own way, joining the DIA rather than the CIA, and disagreeing with his father's politics.

Now he's missing in an African country on the brink of a coup. His last message to his handlers, "We're on the wrong side of history."

His father, the President of the United States, is about to discover which is more important to him: the interests of his country or the life of his son?

Outstanding. Another excellent read from Tony Clancy! Always reliable though shorter than the early ones.

Another excellent read from Tony Clancy!

I’ll keep it short for myself the Ryanverse “franchise” ( I hate that word when applied to creative works ) is more than safe and the baton/torch has been well and truly passed into the very safe hands of of Andrew’s and Wilson alongside the expanding capabilities of the Ryan siblings.
I’m not giving plot details away but for myself this is the best listen since Executive Orders and for myself that was my Clancy introduction in 2003 on a beach in India although I went back have now listened to everything including the offshoots.
A recommended listen.

Executive torch bearing continues apace.

It’s definitely not a Tom Clancy classic, but it will scratch your techno thriller itch. The Jack Ryan character feels less developed, his cabinet members very 2 dimensional, and I miss a lot of the broader fleshing out that would happen in the prime Clancy era. I read this immediately after finishing Rainbow Six and the contrast in styles is jarring.

Nevertheless, it does what it says on the tin.

Functional addition to the Ryanverse
