About this listen

Andrew has one chance to pull himself up from his humble beginnings and make something of himself. He has been found to have a spark of magic deep within himself. To bring it forth, he must first learn to summon the familiar. He must use every drop of his magic to search the Lands of Mist and find the one meant for him. The one he will be bonded to for life. The one who is actually capable and willing to make all his dreams possible. Andrew may be small now, but he has big dreams.

I was hooked throughout. Story flows really well, good detail and good character. Easy listening and narration good. Would recommend a listen. Really hope there is a follow up book in the writing.

I really enjoyed this book, excellent job by the narrator and the character of Andrew and his friends are played very well. I really hope the author continues this line of books

This is a really nicely thought out book. not overly flowery in its descriptions and leaving some questions open. The hero is not silly, arrogant, petulent or foolish like so many other stories. He is somewhat awkward and charming as he stumbles through the story. I enjoyed the world and the depth of exploration of the duelling and the diversity of familiars and their abilities. The protagonists were petty and spiteful like so many I have met outside the pages of a book. However, the author doesn't race to force this but gently lets the situation build in a somewhat natural progression, like all bullies the use of others in the schemes features and the undermining comments barbed jokes and sneakiness you can feel the tension through the threats and hatred build. all in all a very enjoyable listen and I look forward to a sequel and other titles by this author.

The performance is a perfect match to the character with a good pace and intonation. It is clearly read and carefully crafted. I want to listen to more!
