About this listen

More than 100 years have gone by since the tragic sinking of the Titanic, and yet the story of the great ship continues to haunt and captivate us. Our curiosities range from musings like, "What did the ship look like?", "How did passengers dress?", "What did they eat?", and more, to the far more sobering and complex questions such as, "How could such a disaster occur?", "Did people really believe the ship could not sink?", "Were third-class passengers really kept below deck as the disaster unfolded?", "Why was such a large ship even built at all?", and so much more.

This audiobook attempts to answer as many of those questions as possible through an informal, narrative style. It focuses on the overall experience and the feelings and emotions of the people going through it rather than just on facts and figures. It covers every aspect of the Titanic saga from inception and construction to the recent rediscovery of the ship. It also examines the impact of the disaster on society and culture.

Finally, modern ocean travel is examined to help answer another nagging question, "Could such a disaster ever happen again?"
