Story
We strive for success, but we are rarely happy. The more we try to win - putting on a brave face for work or family - the more we risk losing ourselves. And even reaching our goals can feel strangely hollow. The culprit? Fear. It makes us anxious, or shameful, or turns us into perfectionists. We pretend to be someone else while aiming for a status that’s never truly satisfying. There is another way. A way to find our true voice, to win on our own terms.

Total waste of time (and credit)

Summary
Brought to you by Penguin.
Improving your life is much easier than you think. Whether it’s losing weight, sleeping more, or restoring your work/life balance – the secret is to start small.
For years, we’ve been told that being more healthy and productive is a matter of willpower: that we should follow the latest fad and make constant changes to our lifestyles. But whether in our diets, fitness plans or jobs, radical overhauls never work. Instead we should start with quick wins — and embed new, tiny habits into our everyday routines.
The world expert on this is Silicon Valley legend BJ Fogg, pioneering research psychologist and founder of the iconic Behaviour Design Lab at Stanford. Now anyone can use his science-based approach to make changes that are simple to achieve and sticky enough to last.
In the hugely anticipated Tiny Habits, BJ Fogg shows us how to change our lives for the better, one tiny habit at a time. Based on twenty years research and his experience coaching over 40,000 people, it cracks the code of habit formation. Focus on what is easy to change, not what is hard; focus on what you want to do, not what you should do. At the heart of this is a startling truth — that creating happier, healthier lives can be easy, and surprisingly fun.
Includes a bonus PDF of graphs and diagrams.

One to avoid
I am an avid reader of habit and focus based books, so I was really looking forward to this. Unfortunately, I found it so difficult to listen to that, after struggling through the first few chapters, I admitted defeat. Firstly, the narrator speaks really slowly with a weird intonation, which makes the book hard to listen to and unnecessarily long. Next, the content is far too drawn out and convoluted. The author seems to take good basic concepts, and, to make them his own, complicates them with rambling anecdotes, unusual terminology, and impractical solutions. I'd suggest listening to Atomic Habits by James Clear instead, it's far better in my opinion.

Life changing, one celebration at a time
This book teaches the skills of change. No matter where you stand on the nature or nurture debate- this book tells us how- by nature- our mind can be hacked to embrace and propel change. Changing what we do and consequently who we are. While there are many books on each specific area- for example. how to eat better or how to manage your finances, this book is more fundamental: how do you actually change your day to day behaviour so that you succeed to eat better or manage your money better. I have worked with the book for few months now and have succeeded in cultivating many new behaviours in my life. The principal I found most ground breaking was the importance of celebration in the formation of new habits. These are not empty, out of thin air, meaningless 'positive affirmations', but rather- well prescribed and tuned moments of shine, that wire in the new habits. Get this book if you want to have a better life. This just might be the route forward.

Perfect distillation of why we do behaviors
I heard BJ Fogg on curiosity daily podcast. what he said seemed at odds with alot of other behavior change models currently out there + well articulated I was sure this was worth exploring. Bought the book . but I find audiobooks easier so true to tiny habits I bought that with my audible credit. BJ s book is grounded in his academic research , so backed by his science. I found that it explained alot of my behaviors good and not so good , so it gave a framework for me to understand my and others behaviors and gave me the tools to design and change my behavior . so the journey starts , this one has yielded results already, and feels like its a real game changer . the authors reading ,I found initially abit slow so I speeded it up but now I put it back to original speed, its somehow worked out better that way after a few listens. You also incidentally might notice that BJ has the personal touch.
