Summary

Brought to you by Penguin.

It starts quietly enough. A tick-tick-ticking you can hear in your ear. Tinnitus, you think. It will pass. But it doesn't. It gets worse—and then you pass it on.

Before you know it, it spreads. Elsewhere across the globe, it emerges: small outbreaks at first, but then suddenly it's a plague—and only days later it is already killing people.

In an increasingly affected north London school, teacher Kit Chaplin is struggling to understand what he is witnessing. Even Lilly Slater, his partner and an eminent vaccinologist, can't work out what's happening. As it spreads, little by little, they are inexorably drawn into the mystery behind the illness. And what they discover will change the world as they know it....

Exciting and urgently contemporary, this piercingly insightful novel tells the story of a global catastrophe through the eyes of the three people at the heart of the storm.

Tick Tock is a well constructed book with a great storyline. The opening sets the scene well, and draws you in. However early on, I did start to wonder if I would have enjoyed the physical book more due to the narrator. His performance of female characters, particularly younger ones, was at times, a challenge to listen to. .

Great story, Questionable narration.

Interesting read
Again makes you question humanity and the chaos that is sort of happening in the world

Interesting

The book was an interesting one, with the pace and tension speeding up considerably in the final half, however did feel a little drawn out and anticlimactic to a degree - decent listen as background noise!

Well performed thriller with interesting twists

This was so much better than expected - could not stop listening. It is based in a post Covid world where the unthinkable occurs. Fabulous characters that draw you in so you root for them. From a DJ to an awesome author - amazing Simon Mayo xx

Simon Mayo has a dark and twisted mind

A gripping tale lived through the eyes of some excellent characters.
Thematically a story of our time seen through the pain, joy and developing affections of those involved.
The trail comes to life through numerous and linked stages, each opening a powerful insight into human emotions and behaviours.
All in all a great book.

Believable to the end
