About this listen

The New York Times bestseller

A memoir by the beloved comedic actress known for her roles on Freaks and Geeks, Dawson's Creek, and Cougartown who has become 'the breakout star on Instagram stories...imagine I Love Lucy mixed with a modern lifestyle guru' (New Yorker).

Busy Philipps's autobiographical book offers the same unfiltered and candid storytelling that her Instagram followers have come to know and love, from growing up in Scottsdale, Arizona and her painful and painfully funny teen years, to her life as a working actress, mother, and famous best friend.

Busy is the rare entertainer whose impressive arsenal of talents as an actress is equally matched by her storytelling ability, sense of humor, and sharp observations about life, love, and motherhood. Her conversational writing reminds us what we love about her on screens large and small. From film to television to Instagram, Busy delightfully showcases her wry humor and her willingness to bare it all.

'I've been waiting my whole life to write this book. I'm just so grateful someone asked. Otherwise, what was the point of any of it??'

I loved this honest and intimate account of Busy's beautiful life.
I've been a fan of Busy's since I was a loud mouth teen watching her portray a loud mouth teen, on Dawson's Creek, (despite being jealous of her characters relationship with Pacey Witter!)
This is a great listen, with Busy narrating, it's as though she is telling you her story friend to friend.
If you're a fan of Busy, or a 80s/90s kid, I think you'll relate to many parts of her story.

I thought I couldn't love Busy Philipps any more, and then I heard her story. Equal parts hilarious Hollywood anecdotes and relatable personal tragedy, Philipps manages to break down any preconceptions you may have about her in a warm, witty and knowing voice. She's the sort of voice that we need in the world, and I challenge you not to want to be her best friend after hearing this book.

I rarely feel moved enough by a book to write a review but I want to strongly recommend this book to others. I actually look forward to my long commute - hearing Busy's story in her own words feels like the best chatdown with a really good friend. Her story is fascinating, heartwarming, heartbreaking, and hilarious - I find myself actually laughing out loud in parts, but also crying and gasping at other parts. I will listen to this one again and again. You don't have to be a fan to get a lot out of this book - I wasn't when I started listening (I heard Busy on Fearne Cotton's podcast Happy Place) - but I am a fan now! :D

The most entertaining book in my Audible library

I've been a fan of Busy for a long time but regardless the emotion and storytelling added to the audio version of this touching and truthful book is so satisfying.

The last couple yrs of her life are described quite briefly, to some relief, as I hope we'll get a follow up in a few yrs.
