Summary

A memoir by the beloved comedic actress known for her roles on Freaks and Geeks, Dawson's Creek and Cougartown who has become 'the breakout star on Instagram stories...imagine I Love Lucy mixed with a modern lifestyle guru' (The New Yorker).

Busy Philipps' autobiographical audiobook offers the same unfiltered and candid storytelling that her Instagram followers have come to know and love, from growing up in Scottsdale, Arizona, and her painful and painfully funny teen years to her life as a working actress, mother and famous best friend.

Busy is the rare entertainer whose impressive arsenal of talents as an actress is equally matched by her storytelling ability, sense of humor and sharp observations about life, love and motherhood. Her conversational writing reminds us what we love about her on screens large and small. From film to television to Instagram, Busy delightfully showcases her wry humor and her willingness to bare it all.

I've been waiting my whole life to write this book. I'm just so grateful someone asked. Otherwise, what was the point of any of it?

loved it!

First audio book and I think I chose wisely with this one. Was so great to hear Busy narrate it also, it feels like a real sit down chat with the woman that we've all gotten so unaccustomed to hearing and following her story.

Just as you would expect Busy Phillips to be!

A wonderfully honest and heartwarmingly frank autobiography. Listened on my very tedious commute to work, and found myself gasping and laughing out loud in equal measure.

Just fab...good luck with the talk show Busy!

Wish it was longer!!!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book by Busy Phillips. I am sorry it’s finished. Loved her frank, no bullshit way of telling her truth. She was vulnerable and so relatable but also brave and bold and confident and to be honest inspiring. I think all women and young girls should listen/read this book.

Hilarious and heartbreaking.

Busy is genuine, and hilariously honest. You can't help but listen and laugh, nod in fierce agreement, give a yaasss girl or cry. An entertaining and uplifting listen for any woman.

This book is honest but also gripping, I flew through it in a week listening to it on my way home from work. Bush's narration is highly entertaining!

busy is likeable

I don’t usually go for this kind of thing - Hollywood starlet navel gazing self satisfied reflection - like steaming your vagina

But Busy Philips is real and authentic and a self confessed mess. She reminds me of me and my best friend and the girl I hated and the girl I wanted to be. In that super fake world- she comes across as pretty grounded.

It’s still Hollywood - so the ending is always Technicolor 20 min sound bites of lessons learned and life turned around. But so what - we all need a little lightness now and then

No holes Barred

Busy tells us her incredibly difficult life in a way that means you need to keep listening. I believe this is because you become fascinated in finding out how such a publicly bubbly and positive woman could have come some horrific early experiences.
It is very frank about the difficulties she has faced trying to break into a swamped market of actors & her determination to prove teachers and others wrong about what she could be.
Raw and brilliant!

Must listen

Busy reading the book is perfection. My heart would break along with hers when her voice wavered or you could hear her voice breaking. It was a moving book about coming of age and life and our expectations and the reality of all of that, surrounded by other people’s trauma.
