Summary

This Must Be The Place: Booktrack Edition adds an immersive musical soundtrack to your audiobook listening experience!*

Short-listed for the Costa Novel Award - A Richard and Judy Pick 2017

A reclusive ex-film star living in the wilds of Ireland, Claudette Wells is a woman whose first instinct, when a stranger approaches her home, is to reach for her shotgun. Why is she so fiercely protective of her family, and what made her walk out of her cinematic career when she had the whole world at her feet?

Her husband, Daniel, reeling from a discovery about a woman he last saw 20 years ago, is about to make an exit of his own. It is a journey that will send him off course, far away from the life he and Claudette have made together. Will their love for one another be enough to bring Daniel back home?

*Booktrack is an immersive format that pairs traditional audiobook narration to complementary music. The tempo and rhythm of the score are in perfect harmony with the action and characters throughout the audiobook. Gently playing in the background, the music never overpowers or distracts from the narration, so listeners can enjoy every minute. When you purchase this Booktrack edition, you receive the exact narration as the traditional audiobook available, with the addition of music throughout.

A good story badly presented

Maggie O'Farrell tells a good story but this is - again - an occasion when I should have read the book rather than listened to it. In particular, I HATED the background music which occurred regularly throughout the recording. I have hearing loss and this was a very unwelcome intrusion into my listening. I would be disinclined to try another Maggie O'Farrell recording now.

Great sort and character

Love this book, story and characters but found the background music really irritating and unnecessary.

This author always writes a compelling story

Narration was well covered considering the varied characters perspectives & nationalities. The story development was cleverly shaped using these characters. With fluctuation in chapter headings and timeline, one needs to pay attention to the audio. Maggie O'Farrell is a mastermind of family drama.

Good book with nice narration

Good book with nice narration although this version has background music. It was my first experience with music. It was good but I think they should have toned the music slightly down at certain parts.

Dreadful Narration!

The narrator is dreadful. Can’t get through chapter 1. Awful music playing in the background. Terrible! Can’t rate the story because can’t listen to it! So disappointed as was looking forward to this book :-(

The sound of music!

What a shame. It had what seems to have an interesting plot but the over loud music completely spoilt it for me. I was hoping it was just the introduction but the music continued! I am afraid this old fashioned thing likes her books "neat" without a constant music background

Gnaaarrrr! Stop the music!

I am not sure I can listen any more. Halfway through Chapter 1. This is making my ears bleed. Stop the goddamn music. And also, maybe not the guy for the job; hIs femaling is a bit not great and his accents dreadful. Either do it or dont... not the weird affected panto voices. I need a drink.
