About this listen

This is Gonna Hurt is music, photography, and life through the distorted lens of Nikki Sixx, bassist for heavy metal rock band Mötley Crüe’s and the New York Times bestselling author of The Heroin Diaries. A combination of powerful prose and dramatic photographs, This is Gonna Hurt is an arresting, deeply personal look through the eyes of a real rock star at a stark, post-addiction world. This book had more going for it than I thought I'm not into motley crue but I enjoyed the book tremendously

Having read "The Dirt" and then subsequently each of the members of Motley Crue’s autobiographies I found myself reading “The Heroin Diaries” Nikki’s first book delving into the raw open wound that was his past. I was hooked, I couldn't wait to see what would come out of his mouth next. Open, Honest and sometimes harsh in its reality this book is simply brilliant. Nikki writes with frank open honesty (sometimes to the point of having to pick my jaw up from the floor) and his opinion may not be acceptable to everyone but that's ok.... it is, after all his opinion. I've read and listened to this book more times than I can remember and each time I find something else to re-read or rewind to hear again, often finding myself saying “did he really just say that?!” I loved this book and as with the first one find myself excited, sometimes saddened and yet totally inspired by what's contained in its pages. Punctuated with very clever and darkly beautiful photography its one you really cant put down. Well done Nikki... you did it again. A true great!

Exceptional!

Nikki Sixx never ceases to amaze me. Finally somone who gets it... Whatever it is. Be it life, love etc. All because of the lessons his experiences have taught. And he chose to listen. Amazing and poignant book with real heart and soul.
