Summary
'Nothing can ever ease the pain of the death of someone you love; nothing can magic it away. But if I can help anyone else facing what we have gone through, what we're still going through, by sharing what I've learnt, our loss won't feel completely meaningless.'
In 2015 former England football star Rio Ferdinand suddenly and tragically lost his wife and soul mate, Rebecca, age 34, to cancer. It was a profound shock, and Rio found himself struggling to cope not just with the pain of his grief but also with his new role as both mum and dad to their three young children. Rio's BBC1 documentary Being Mum and Dad touched everyone who watched it and won huge praise for the honesty and bravery he showed in talking about his emotions and experiences.
His audiobook now shares the story of meeting, marrying and losing Rebecca, his own and the family's grief - as well as the advice and support that get him through each day as they strive to piece themselves back together. It is written in the hope that he can inspire others struggling with loss and grief to find the help they need through this most difficult of times.

Mixed emotions.
Gut wrenching at times but am I being taken for a ride?
Mixed emotions wanting to believe this. A brilliant footballer without question. Reports in the media from the High Court cover his serial adultery but this book seemingly embarrassingly skips over such episodes. How does a book about his beloved wife not address this? Ferdinand is always at the vanguard of trends. Is this his Re-branding as a wholesome devoted family man too keep him in the mainstream? I hope not. left feeling a tad confused but probably just a product of scepticism on my part. 3Stars

Incredibly honest
This must have been such a difficult book to write by Rio but clearly was very honest.

A hard listen but helpful
I can't say I enjoyed this book because I didn't listen to it to enjoy it. I really wanted to hear about Rio's experience. It was very honest and I can relate to a lot he was saying. I would recommend it to someone who is experiencing grief. Just to get another perspective and make you realise you are not alone.

Sometimes heat wrenching - candidly honest
I'm not a football fan at all - chose this book for the human factor and was not disappointed.
interesting insight into the life and mindset of an elite sportsman without dwelling on that aspect.
A moving account that had me in tears on a couple of occasions.
