Summary

"Think and Grow Rich" is a motivational personal development and selfhelp audiobook written by Napoleon Hill and inspired by a suggestion from Scottish-American businessman Andrew Carnegie.

While the title implies that this book deals only with how to achieve monetary wealth, the author explains that the philosophy taught in the book can be used to help individuals do or be almost anything they want in this world. For instance, Jim Murray (sportswriter) wrote that "Think and Grow Rich" was credited for Ken Norton's boxing upset of Muhammad Ali in 1973.

The book was first published in 1937 during the Great Depression. At the time of Hill's death in 1970, "Think and Grow Rich" had sold 20 million copies. It remains the biggest seller of Napoleon Hill's books, a perennial bestseller after 70 years (BusinessWeek Magazine's BestSeller List ranked "Think and Grow Rich" as the sixth bestselling paperback business book 70 years after it was first published).

"Think and Grow Rich" is listed in John C. Maxwell's "A Lifetime Must Read Books List".

Very engaging and surprisingly actionable

The book itself is very actionable and I personally found it very engaging.

I also enjoyed the narration as I felt I had a mentor talking me through the topics covered.

A must read.

Have already been through it twice. Do not let the title deceive you. This book is so much more than just a strategy for acquiring riches in your life.

Racist, sexist, outdated

This book screams toxic masculinity, uses racist terminology and is based on rich men only.

Hated It

I'm completely on board with the concepts, but it's so outdated and the narrator's voice is monotonous.

In some parts the book goes way off piste and you wonder what on earth you're listening too.

I gave this a good go but 3/4 of the way through I had to tap out.

Freaking outstanding! An unbelievable experience with a wealth of valuable information. I've read this 2 times already, and I must continuously immerse my subconscious mind in this treasure chest of phenomenal words.

This book is changing my life.

After reading this book for the first time, I put a sketch of action. And after a second reading, I perfected my plan, prescribed in chapter two.

Since putting the plan into action, my life seems to be drawn on a vision board. Autosuggestion is powerful. And the links drawn in this book to autosuggestion are eternally true as I now experience it.

The book is written in simple to understand language and the principles are laid down, revised, emphasized upon and developed in a logical manner.

If you have struggled to make meaningful decisions and find your goals or vision in life, read this book and be saved from doubt .

I recommend this book to everyone who seeks meaning, clarity and any type of wealth in their life.

So dated it's largely irrelevant

So this was an interesting book in it's day... You can see why it has been so successful over the years but it is now so dated (written in 1937) it is largely irrelevant. The book's central ideas have been used, diluted and rehashed so many times that There is now zero benefit to be gained from reading the book. Many theories now sound absolutely ludicrous.... By the end I was begging for it to finish
Another issue is with the audio book is that it inexplicably contains 180 2-3min chapters. If you lose your place there is no hope of finding it again.

Great Book, inaccurate chapters

The book is a classic. Wish that the audio was broken down by real chapters instead of over 100 breaks at random with no rhyme or reason, so if you want to go to a particular chapter, you can’t!

A stepping stone for anyone beginning their intellectual journey

The idea is very clear and translated very well for any average reader, some of the social ideals are mildly questionable in this day and age in regards of what to expect when dealing with businesses and the offering of free service with the understanding that it won’t be exploited but in dealing with how to hold oneself to a standard and run their own business is very important. Also the $65 for an apartment in t he city of New York and $25 in suburbs gave me a good chuckle.

lots of thought provoking information.

the overall thoughts in this book are great. i like that the research to make this book was information from major historical figures. some of the ideas are a little out there, but for the most part it seems like if you let this book guide you. you can gain what you want in life.

NOT STRUCTURED PROPERLY: BUY THE PHYSICAL BOOK

NOT STRUCTURED PROPERLY, 100+ Chapters? Confusing. In addition, it is VERY repetitive: BURNING DESIRE BURNING DESIRE... There is content here, but I have to spend many more hours understanding it better with the physical book. My suggestion? BUY THE PHYSICAL BOOK.
