About this listen

Natural principles as a manual for the modern world

Nature holds the secret to your happiness, health, and well-being. Now, at last, you can unlock it.

We associate trees and woodlands with harmony, health, and vitality. And yet, so often, we struggle to experience these qualities in our everyday lives. What if we could harness the wisdom of the forest for ourselves?

Think Like a Tree, the first guide of its kind, reveals the underlying principles of nature’s secrets of success one by one, and demonstrates how we can apply them to our own lives in this practical personal development guide. These natural principles are the rules and patterns that all living things have in common for finding purpose, growth, and success; solving problems; building resilience; creating ideal conditions to thrive; developing positive relationships; and leaving a lasting legacy.

Drawing on woodland examples from around the globe, Think Like a Tree shares the amazing abilities of trees, their evolutionary success stories, and their abilities to heal. Real-world case studies demonstrate how the Think Like a Tree principles are being applied right now by people around the world. Exercises for each of the principles allow listeners to put into practice the wisdom shared by the living world. The natural principles can be used for well-being; physical health; psychological health and happiness; overcoming a life-challenge; motivation; coping with stress, anxiety, and depression; transforming your life; relationship problems; work-life balance; planning for the future; and more!

Throughout the book, Sarah Spencer shares her inspirational real-life story of health recovery - how she used the natural principles to overcome significant illness, including chronic fatigue, allergies, autoimmune disease, and migraine, and find her purpose and achieve happiness. She now spends her time inspiring others to use trees and nature to design the life they want to lead via books, workshops, and online courses.

I loved this book it was full of useful information

I have been exposed to many of the ideas and principles as a student of permaculture but Sarah makes them tangible and approachable.
I really enjoyed this book and will definitely get the hardcopy to highlight and work through.
This is a great succinct guide for anyone looking for flow and purpose and to feel more at home with the world and their relationships.
I feel like I have new tools with which to tackle my projects and permission to take things slow and forgive my failings like the majestic Oak.
Many thanks for writing this and I hope many people have the gift of integrating it into their lives.

indepth and highly practical

I enjoyed this as my first audiobook, I listened at 1.35x speed as that suited me and it was easy listening for car journeys with the kids, although there are certainly bits I want to delve into more deeply and ponder on so I'm glad I have the paper copy too. The helpful and frequent chapter and header lists are very useful for revisiting sections that you want to hear again. The book itself is so rich, full of facts, inspiring quotes and case studies, links to scientific research as well as anecdotes and suggestions. Even my children were picking up on parts and saying, 'Wow, that's so interesting!' I was very inspired to apply the thinking to many parts of my life, it's very multi faceted and broad in its potential application and I loved that. I can't wait to read it again!

Rich and inspiring, but easy listening

Having read about permaculture over the last few years I was drawn to this book given its affinity to nature.

The author has done a great job setting out useful topics and sharing her experiences in an enjoyable to listen audiobook.

I particularly recommend this book to anyone interested in personal development and building resilience.

A cleverly packaged guide to life

This book is a collection of information, stories and also guidance notes on life transformation, based on the principles of observing trees.

You may be misled into thinking what kind of Pagan or Hippy tree loving adventure this may take you on, when actually the book is based on very sound ground, especially observation of how tree's behave and react to the surrounding world and environment.

This book also provides a number of exercises which you can complete without the need for expensive investment.

The idea, from my perspective is about personal understanding, respect and growth. The concept of building a solid foundation.

A really great listen, from Sarah herself. This is someone who has had hardship and challenges, collected the findings and then collated them into a single resource for others to benefit.

Absolutely worth a listen, there will be something for everyone depending on the situation they find themselves in today.

What a valuable resource
