About this listen

I loathe Alastor Shaw.

The city of San Francisco thinks we’re rival artists.

In truth, we’re predators battling for hunting ground.

We never chased the same prey. Until the night we both laid eyes on Mara Eldritch.

Shaw wants to use her as a pawn in his twisted game.

I’m fixated on her for a different reason.

She makes me feel things I never thought I could feel. Want things I never wanted.

Only she can make me lose control.

I don’t know if I should protect her at all costs…or destroy her before she ruins me.

Mara knows I’m no saint. But she has no idea she’s dancing with the devil….

The Lark Notes:
I have always been fascinated by true crime, as well as by villains and anti-heroes. A serial killer is, of course, the ultimate anti-hero—the baddest of the bad boys. Redeeming a character who starts so evil was a challenge that inspired me to entirely new heights and entirely new depths. Come on this darkly sensual and utterly brain-bending ride with me! — Sophie

There Are No Saints is the first audiobook in the Sinners Duet. Listeners be warned: this audiobook contains extremely dark themes that might be triggering to some. This is a steamy serial killer romance that will take you on a journey through the twisted mind of an artist on the brink of madness.

This was a different take on the normal serial killer romance for me. It was a slow burn and while it was an interesting story, the pace went from fast, slow, and then fast again so it was a little like a rollercoaster. It did keep my attention enough that I am immediately going to listen to the second book in the duet.

I think the narrators did a really good job in bringing Sophie Larks story as while they did both voices for each character in the chapters, it was good.

Whoa... where do I even begin?

I finished this book and couldn't even form a thought. My mind was blown!

Cole Blackwell from the start absolutely intrigued me like no other has before. There are so many layers, so much depth.. so many questions. I mean sociopath? No not really. Psychopath? Only at times.. I can't figure him out and I am all the more riveted because of it.

Then we have Mara Eldritch.. I knew her story was going to be good, but yet she still managed to surprise me. I loved her fierceness and her Aidatude (iykyk).

Lastly there is Alastor Shaw. That man.. I don't even know what to say.. His art is intense and unique.. yeah, let's go with that. The amazement I felt throughout this book was intense. There were so many twists and turns and so much darkness it was like a haunted house and just when you thought you knew what was coming around the next corner Sophie laughed and said "NO you really don't know anything" (insert evil laugh here)

The dynamic between these characters was so unique and passionate I was enthralled. I was consumed.. I was all the things. I mean seriously when I say I couldn't even form a thought, I meant it. This book was so good, definitely her best work to date in my opinion. I also want to point out the wonderful little gems she leaves.. Like troglodyte, I will use that in a sentence because what the heck. Had me stopping my reading at the best part of the book to find the meaning to that word. Her books are always captivating and her vocabulary is stunning. I'm just in awe of her.

We can't forget the fact that this book ends in the most suspenseful cliffhanger.. I can't wait to see how things play out in book 2. I am so ready, but yet not ready at all.

Lee Daniels and Jeffrey Holz were amazing! They did a fantastic job of really bringing out the suspense and drama with this story.

Suspenseful and Thrilling!!

Wow, I enjoy this author, so all I knew of this story was the title and that it was a two book series. Loved it. I had no preconceived notions and highly enjoyed every turn and situation that came about. Yummy. Such a good listen and the narrators were amazing!!! They really brought the characters into another dimension for me.

Sophie Lark warns you that this book is dark, and boy, she is not lying. It is dark in all the right ways, including a possessive antihero. Once I began, I was hooked by the unique plot and character dynamics. I had to see how it would play out, and I was not disappointed! Equally captivating is the narration. It was superb, and fit the characters brilliantly. The always intelligent and descriptive words of Lark coupled with the spot-on narration made me forget I was listening and not watching a movie!
