About this listen

THE VAMPIRE KILLER
A psychological crime thriller set in wartime Hounslow, 1943

London, 1943. The streets of Hounslow hide more than ration books and blackouts. A killer is working to a quiet rhythm of death, leaving behind bodies drained of blood and arranged with disturbing care. The press have their theories. The police have few leads.

Theodore Nash doesn’t believe in monsters. He sees detail, intent, and the human mind behind every crime. A forensic consultant by trade, and a man more comfortable with puzzles than people, Theo has made a life of distance and control.

But this case will demand more.

For the first time in years, friendships forming. A fragile career is taking shape. And an unexpected relationship is beginning to grow, pulling Theo into the very connections he has always avoided.

As the murders continue, the evidence reveals a chilling countdown, one that draws closer to someone Theo cares about. Every deduction matters now. Every decision could save a life.

Balancing loyalty, career, and his first taste of love, Theo must race against time to catch a killer who always seems one step ahead.

The question is whether his heart will be the edge that sharpens his mind… or the weakness that brings it all crashing down.

An unusual and intriguing thriller. An ambiguous title. Theodore Nash is an unconventional and damaged detective. He is getting closer to the the calculating and gruesome serial killer known throughout Hounslow as the Vampire Killer.
Both touching and disturbing this is a great listen and I'd love to hear more Nash stories.
Narrator Peter McGiffen does a great job with the colourful cast and pacy narrative. 5☆

This is a very strange story with an equally weird sleuth, a police consultant who somehow stumbles his way through an investigation full of twists and plenty of gore. There’s always something going on, and the story rarely slows down. Pete McGiffen’s punchy narration fits the tone well, making this a surprisingly fun listen despite its darker moments.
I was kindly given a copy of the book by the narrator and leave this honest review.
