Struggled at first but well worth sticking with!
I found the story developing very slowly to start with and I felt the section about Laurel’s and Floyd’s relationship was taking too long to tease out. I’m glad I persevered as the story soon developed into something intriguing and also something quite dark. So if you’re finding it a bit slow to start with, keep at it, it will soon have you hooked.

Compelling storytelling
I don’t usually write reviews on books but this is different. If it was a regular book I’d call it a page turner but it’s an audio book so I’ll just say it’s worth the pain in the ears from the AirPods!
Lisa Jewell is a talented author and this is a brilliant story. Most of the time you have heroes and villains and they’re all recognisable as such but Lisa’s characters are rounded, and like any good artist she gives them light and shade.

fantastic book
found this initially hard to get into, however in the end I Loved this and really enjoyed the twists and turns. really well narrated too.

Compelling listening
Absolutely loved this book and listened to the last 4 hours without pause. So well written that you feel real empathy for the victims in this story. The awful truth is gradually revealed as the story progresses. Clever plot and will I am sure make a gripping film or TV drama.

Mesmerising and heartbreaking
