Alex watches from her bedroom window as the small, secluded town of Amberton sleeps: a bright, pleasant town with a dark, disturbing secret. Helen, her foster mother, is gone all hours of the night with no explanation. The neighbors, always friendly, always smiling, are also always watching. They know something Alex doesn't. Something she shouldn't....

When three outsiders become ensnared in the town's dark conspiracies, Alex witnesses for herself the nightmare hiding in plain sight. Together, haunted by their own pasts, these outsiders threaten to unstitch the town at its rotten seams, uncovering the gruesome truth writhing beneath the surface.

this reminds me of a good 90s horror movie. fantastic characters, great story. a slight sense of wtf but totally believable. I was loathe to finish it! defo reccommend

Found the beginning confusing as to why it was jumping between 2 completely different stories, I understand that happens in some books but it didn't have any connection between the 2 to begin with and when they did connect it didn't make much sense. I found myself zoning in and out of the story, cuz it wasn't gripping me enough to stay completely interested, but I saw it all the way through hoping there would be some twist which would of made it worth while, unfortunately it didn't happen. Found the narration abit mono, and when she did the children's voices it came off as they were really whiney, even in normal conversation. Not going to knock it entirely, they say some books are better as audio, I think this is one where it's probably better as a book.

Well that was very different. Wasn’t sure how it was going to end and a bit confused when it did. Very imaginative and very absorbing and totally different to what I have listened to in the past
