Summary
The gripping new race-against-time thriller by the best-selling author of Relentless, The Last 10 Seconds and The Final Minute.
I had a simple choice. Stay here and almost certainly be discovered.
Or get up and run.
The Witness
When Jane Kinnear sees her lover being murdered, she suddenly finds herself in danger. Taken to an anonymous police safe house, it soon becomes clear that her lover was an MI5 informant with important information about an imminent terrorist attack.
The Detective
DI Ray Mason of Counter Terrorism Command is a man with a controversial past, but his effectiveness at getting results means that he's now been given the task of preventing the attack from taking place. But can he be trusted, and does he know more about the attack than he's letting on?
The Killer
In the safe house, Jane is trying to piece together a description of her lover's killer. But what she doesn't know is that the killer has already found out who she is and where she is hiding.
And now he's coming for her....

Hooray for Paul Thornley!
Jonathan Keeble is quite good, Diana Kent very disappointing with a wishy washy voice. Made me lose concentration on the story. Paul Thornley is the only one to read Simon Kernik's books...he is excellent. Story not quite up to Kernik's usual standard I feel, although that might be because of the different readers.

Not the best
What did you like best about The Witness? What did you like least?
Best is Ray's relationship with his partner, Chris and his continued disrespect for the doing things the 'proper' way.
What was most disappointing about Simon Kernick’s story?
The absolutely unbelievable female character.
Have you listened to any of the narrators’s other performances? How does this one compare?
Oh yes! Paul Thornley is one of my favourite narrators. The narration by Paul is excellent; however the wish washy voice of the actor playing Jane, lost my attention on more than one occasion.
Could you see The Witness being made into a movie or a TV series? Who would the stars be?
No
Any additional comments?
Simon Kernick is an excellent author, this one though wasn't his best.

Good Book, Bit slow at times but worth listening to / reading!
Firstly, I’m a big fan of Simon’s books. However, I found this one a little slow in places, partly the way the book is read by the female reader. It is worth persevering though because the other books in this series are amazing and this gives you the background you need for them to make sense!

Genuine Action Story With a Very Good Performance
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes I will, because it is action from the very first minute to the last minute with an excellent performance with a female voice for female characters and male voices for male characters what ought to be a standard. At least for all top selling stories.
Who was your favorite character and why?
The doings of the main character filled most of the time in this story without him being any kind of an unrealistic superman.
Which scene was your favorite?
The Caribian island scene.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Action.
Any additional comments?
Just as in some other Simon Kernic books, there are a few parts which doesn't really fit together and some strange matters are not explained at all. However, it is an action novel with the very best performance I've heard in ages what makes it a good choice.

A good listen
I'm giving this a 4 rating. It is better than average. Yes, it is spies , bad guys, guns, egos, red herrings, terrorism -sort of- tosed togethr in a book that is fun to listeen to - with a trailer that I hopes leads to a sequel. It takes pkace in Britain so ee see their attitude to guns- so different to Amrtia's.
