Summary

Emma and her friends are about to turn 30, and for Emma it's a defining moment. Defined, that is, by her having achieved none of the things she'd imagined she would. She's never jumped out of a plane, hasn't met the man she's going to marry or snogged anyone famous. As Emma hurtles towards her thirtieth, she discovers, with hilarious consequences, that some of them are trickier to tick off than she'd thought....

Careful what you wish for

If you could sum up The Wish List in three words, what would they be?

Oh no don't. This book is a bit of a silly romp. having said that it is a good romp and great fum. lots going on at a great pace.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Well you know more of Emma and see the world from her point of view, but Max and Emma's girl friends are well balanced characters. Amazingly for chick lit most of the men are great characters. Liverpool comes out very well too. The places described are real and true to life.

What does Alex Tregear bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

Positively she reads a great story negatively she drops in to an awful Scouse accent. I am a native It is my native language but at times it grated.

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Its a book to laugh with. A perfect example of how humans can convinces them selves to do some pretty stupid things.

Any additional comments?

I recommend this book. Yes its chicklit but it has some insights into human behavior and truths. Do we ever grow up? I would suggest not completely.

Fun, enjoyable read

This is the first book by Jane Costello that I have 'read' (listened to) and I really enjoyed it. The characters were likeable and well developed. I'd love to read/hear more books with these characters.

The main character Emma is delightfully scatty who epitomises many women of that age.

This was an easy girly read that I got more and more into as the story went on, so much so I didn't want it to end.

Whilst this is a girly book I wouldn't recommend it for teenagers.

Thoroughly enjoyed from the very first chapter

Funny, smart, not too soppy but touching in places. Also well read. My first chic lit on Audible and I'm not usually a chic lit fan. But this was a great balance of humour and romance

LOVED this book!!

Absolutely LOVED this book! By far this is the most that I’ve laughed out loud since I started listening to audiobooks.
Fab story line with sensitive parts too which are told perfectly by Alex Tregear.

The only negative about this book is that it’s now ended! Miss it already. 100% recommend x

Struggled to finish

I found the story unchallenging . I wasn't intrigued by the ending. The main characters storyline stale.

A fun and easy read.

the story is great, the narrator is great, the editing .... is not. I got quite distracted by lines being repeated throughout the book.

Enjoyable but predictable

I listen to audiobooks to keep my mind occupied while I'm running and this book did do that. However, I thought the story was very predictable, and I guessed what would happen in the various threads to the main storyline. I preferred Girl on the Run by the same author, but having listened to this one, I can see that there are certain formulas used in both books. Still, it was undemanding fun and I quite enjoyed listening to it, but would go for something a bit more demanding next time.
