Summary

Celebrity photographer Grace Buchanan has always known that one day she'd swap her manic day job for the peace and quiet of her beloved childhood cottage, St Christopher's - she just didn't expect it to be so soon.

At the reading of her mother's will, she's shocked to learn that inheriting St Christopher's hangs on one condition: Grace must drop everything for two weeks and travel the country with a mysterious stranger - war-weary Royal Marine Alasdair Finn.

I really enjoyed this book, the story was novel and well thought out and it was paced exactly right. I wasn't sure about Gabrielle Glaister as the narrator at first but the choice grew on me.

Overall I would recommend this book.

Best ‘chick lit’ I’ve read…

… in a long time. It didn’t feel like it followed the normal format and I couldn’t put it down.

Didn’t want it to end. Couldn’t recommend enough.

Captivating

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Wedding Cake Tree?

The walk in the Cairngorms and the shock of the water

What about Gabrielle Glaister’s performance did you like?

The Yorkshire accent of the Aunt. Unfortunately all the other accents sounded similar even the american. But the characters were so convincing and the story line so good it didn't really matter.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The main characters time spent hiding by the river. Another part of the book that moved me was the break up. It was obvious things were going to go one of two ways and both were going to be tear jerkers….

Any additional comments?

I laughed out loud and loved the teasing between the two main characters. The only downside was that the letters from her mother were too assured that the relationship would blossom as expected and were just a little unbelievable.

Wonderful Book

One of the nicest books I've ever listening to. Beautifully written and narrated. I didn't want it to end.
Having just been in a nasty car accident and luckily walked away with no serious injuries ... it was also very thought provoking for me. Live for now, make the most of all that you have.
I also loved the link with trees ... my father planted Japanese maples for us, I planted a mimosa tree for him, after he passed on, he loved yellow!
As I've said I just didn't want it to end. Excellent.
PS. I never write reviews

Lovely lovely book

This was a really heart warming story and rather different from the more traditional boy meets girl. Take a chance on this book - I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

Too much drama

The main story would have been enough for me, there was just too much silly drama.
