Being a teenager isn't easy. Even kids who grow up in happy, loving households encounter all manner of problems during adolescence. Story
From the outside, there was no reason to suspect the family life of young schoolchild Keri was anything but unremarkable. Two loving parents, a backdrop of 1960s Britain; life had provided for her, at least with the riches of modesty. Keri herself however, would often confound teachers with her erratic behaviour, which was at best sullen and withdrawn; at worst violently disruptive. When challenged, she would only exacerbate her growing reputation as a fantasist; weaving terrible tales about the "abuse" she was suffering at the hands of her very creators.

When the young teenage girl, thrown out of her home by her strict Muslim family, is discovered hiding on the city streets by the police, it is clear that all is not as it should be. Taught to believe that Westerners should not be trusted, when Zadie is initially delivered into the experienced hands of foster carer Rosie, she is understandably suspicious of the family around her.

Story
When Cathy is told about Melody’s terrible childhood, she is sure she’s heard it all before. But it isn’t long before she feels there is more going on than she or the social services are aware of. Although Melody is angry at having to leave her mother, she also worries about her obsessively - far more than is usual. Amanda, Melody’s mother, is also angry and takes it out on Cathy at contact, which again is something Cathy has experienced before. When Amanda misses contact, it is assumed she has forgotten, but nothing could have been further from the truth.

Summary
It's never too late for a miracle.
When an old woman begs God to let her see the daughter who had been taken from her arms almost eighty years before - could her impossible prayer come true? In the summer of 1928, sixteen-year-old Minka was looking forward to a sewing class picnic. This would be a rare chance to put aside farm chores, don a pretty dress, and enjoy an outing with other girls. It would be a day to remember. And it was - but not in the way Minka had dreamed. Cornered by a stranger in the woods, the young girl was assaulted. Minka still believed that the stork brought babies; she would not discover for months that she was pregnant. The story that follows has been almost a hundred years in the making. What happens when a new mother must make a heartbreaking sacrifice to give her baby daughter the life she deserves? Can her cherished memories carry her through decades of turmoil, during a rapidly changing time in American history? And in the end, can she trust God for a miracle? The Waiting is an unforgettable true story of faith that triumphs, forgiveness that sets us free, and love that never forgets.

Truly a beautiful story!
This was such a wonderful book! It's heart breaking but spirit building! One women's hard work, faith, and incredible love for her family! The cover picture captured my attention and I loved listening to it all the way through. My own gpa was adopted in 1929. Makes me think of the sacrifices his own birth mother made for him;)
