Summary

Eccentric psychic medium Celeste Fox has enjoyed a decades-long career in the public eye, coaching people through exciting and challenging times with her unique spiritual insight. Her reputation takes a significant blow after a recent public appearance results in a tragic death. To defend herself against wild accusations and sensational media coverage, Celeste books a recording studio in Manhattan where she aims to take control of her own narrative by recording an episode of a new podcast. As the episode progresses, Celeste divulges details from her past and weaves an intricate tale from which she has difficulty untangling herself, even as the stakes of her confession mount.

There is a problem

It is so difficult for me to give this story a 5 star rating when it so obviously deserves a higher score. The story is so well crafted in every way. In such a short duration of time, our lead is developed and given to us the way a Polaroid reveals itself in graduated measures. When we believe there is nothing to further develop, we have an apex with a twist and a clever ending. This writing deserves, at bare minimum, 6 stars. With that said, this recording causes one problem for focussing on writing accolades about the story and that lies in the narration.

Because OMG what an unreal and stellar performance by Betty Buckley! Her performance was mind bogglingly perfect. She did not read or simply narrate, she WAS Celeste Fox. Every inflection, pause, utterance and emotion was delivered with incredible feel and this occured from the very second her voice was heard. The story is easily a 5 star but Betty Buckley took this to an entirely different level.

To write something of this quality and have it unfold so meticulously in such a short duration (consider the difficulty of crafting strong character development within a limited time construct) is a confirmation of the author's strength and mastery.

Now I have a problem. I have heard the symphony and must return to AM radio. If only all performances were this good...

Wait for it...

This story starts a little slow and I almost stopped listening but then it gets juicy and turns into a murder mystery! The end was great! Well worth the listen!

Wow!

Worth the listen! I was a little confused at first, but I hung in there and I was so glad I did. The story is a bit dark, and there definitely is some adult content. So I wouldn’t listen while kiddos are in hearing rage. I cleaned while I listened and before I knew it my chores were done and the book was finished. So good!

“Oh my gosh!!!”

I thought I was just going to listen to a rushed half thought audio book. What I got was a well crafted theater piece I could enjoy on my way to work! I’m floored. What started of light hearted quickly turned suspenseful and enthralling. Do not sleep on this!! I freaking love it!
