I loved the story even though at times the conversations seem stilted with characters using unwieldy sentences. The narration does not add anything but grates with all of the female characters sounding like weak children and the accents are clumsy. This doesn't help the listener make a connection. I hate being negative but there it is.

The story is simply written. I found the narration off-putting. It is read in a kind of monotone with little intonation and there were often no proper pauses between paragraphs or changes of scene.
